Call me kooky, but I used to take pride in knowing I could defend myself with my hands, I had some really good scraps back in the day. Differences were settled, respect was gained and good friends were made more often than not. What's there to accomplish or be proud of in pulling a trigger?

Nothing. It's why so many people, who wish to do harm to themselves or others, reach for it. It's easy.

There doesn't have to be physical contact involved like there would be with a stabbing or a strangulation or a beating. Hell, you can do it without the victim even knowing you're there.

Those folks have never been in a fight, or have been beaten up so much/bad that it's unthinkable to even attempt to fight someone.

It's easy (shoot someone and walk away) and it's cowardly and it's hugely depressing and scary to see how often people are prepared to act as executioners because something has irritated them. As we've seen in the last month just from what's been posted in this forum, people have been shot for loud music, eating popcorn and for examining their new property.This is why gun ownership should be only for those who need them (police officers, farmers etc).
