Yes this is it my mistake, the question should be if a ring is required. Sorry about this

Please don't apologize. The mistake made for a very interesting thread. good.gif

But to answer your real question....no, you don't need the ring.

Assuming the interview will take place in Manila, the interview won't be too difficult. Make sure you have all your paperwork in order, have proof of the relationship, and most important, make sure you meet the financial requirements. Other than that, there's not much to fear in the interview.

But, in the medical, fear the sputum test. mad.gif

Rings were never brought up in the interview, nor wedding plans. They were more concerned about how well Lili knew me than anything else.

The best kind of evidence is pictures together, chat logs, phone logs, and best of all boarding passes with both names if you have them.

IMO, having the evidence just mentioned and knowing each other well is most important.

Journey so far:

09/14/2012: Sent I-129F Packet

09/21/2012: NOA1 Received

04/22/2013: NOA2 Notice of approval
05/08/2013 NVC Received

06/01/2013 Packet 3 Received

06/04/2013 Packet 3 Sent

06/10/2013 Packet 4 email received

06/27/2013 First Scheduled interview-cancelled (didn't get notarized paperwork in time)

08/12/2013 K-1 interview passed!

08/28/2013 Lili Arrives in the U.S.!!!

10/04/2013 Marriage!!!

03/26/2014 AOS Approved!

04/02/2014 Received GC

Stop being afraid of what could go wrong, and think of what could go right!

Knowledge of a date is NOT a requirement. Stop making things up.

Although not a requirement, it is best to know the date she got engaged. A CO can ask any question about their relationship and would cause a big red flag for not knowing the date of her engagement. In most countries, engagement is a big deal, often a formal ceremony. I would absolutely advise her to know the date of the engagement even if it isn't a requirement.

There is no one event that marks you as engaged, as oppposed to the one event that marks you as married. What you need is evidence to support your verbal claim that you are engaged, i.e. things to show them that you are acting like engaged people. Phone calls, emails, chat logs, Skype records, gifts you bought one another, etc.

They may ask her when you got engaged or when you proposed, but having a ring is not required for the interview.
