Hi,

I got my interview letter and it says my interview is next February. I was not able to work and so we have little income and we also had a joint sponsor.

Now my question is, for proof of marriage they require a lot of documents that a are joint, that you cant possibly have if you are not working, like tax returns. And we dont have a joint bank account , and i don't have any income, so i dont want to pay out of our little income to start one. we do have many testimonials, letters we mailed to each other, emails, gifts we gave to each other, lease together, and text messages too. And we also have car insurance information with both of our names. and mail addressed to both of us as a couple, like Christmas cards.

so my question is, is that enough, and i dont have a lot of money, but do i need to print out all our photos or can i just copy them on a disk and show it to them on my laptop. I know this might sound ridiculous but we are living on a very tight budget. So i dont want to print out all of our photos if i can provide a soft copy.

and if i want to use our txts, do i hand them my phone? do i need to print out my txt messages? and how do i do that? if we have soo many txts together?

will not having a joint bank account be an issue??

i appreciate all the advice i could get.

thanks.

Regarding the photos, I would just print around 5 that are important in some way (that show you with other family, in trips, at the wedding, etc).

Regarding the texts, I would not even worry with that. I mean, i would forget completely about the texts, I don't know how they can make any difference.

Regarding the joint bank account, they will probably ask you why you don't have one, to which you will have to explain, that's all.

My interview within 6 days. I kinda nervous, we just have join bank account and phone bill together, but we have a lot picture we took with friends and family, and aslo my baptism became a Catholic to marry my wife, and my wedding pictures. Would that be enough to proof the relationship?

Cairo will not look at evidence at the interview

If Cairo sees you have no evidence then they will ask for it.

No, you cannot bring in your phone, computer or a disk.

They want the printed stuff that you should have sent with your original I-130 or to the NVC with the DS-230.

Definetely send some printed out pics on computer paper. They may ask him to show them a pic of you and his mom

or ask whats his favorite pic is.

Cairo is a place that you have to front load an application. Their mind is already made up by the time he goes to the interview.

You don't need to have any money to open a joint bank account. Some require around $20 to open an account initially - but typically it doesn't cost to add a spouse.

Open the bank account - that is a huge help in proving a legitimate relationship.

Car insurance is a big help as well and a joint lease.

Do you pay utilities at all? It also costs nothing to add a second name to those.

Also - you can file tax returns without income.

Testimonials are helpful only to a small extent - they can be faked.

Text messages are meaningless - they can also be faked easily.

Pictures are desirable - although you don't need a whole photo album. Just some pictures that are clearly from different times and places. Some wedding photos is pretty much expected.

They really want the things that are official - like the insurance, bank accounts, memberships, taxes, utilities, rental/lease documents...

Good luck.
