Fee Before Entering US on K-1

Good Morning,

My fiance was approved at the Barbados embassy last week! Yaay

So, now my question is..........He received a paper from the embassy explaining his approval and how to send his passport for the visa stamp. On the same paper, it states that we must pay a $165 US fee online before entering the USA. I have heard from someone that the K-1 is exempt from paying this fee. Can anyone verify if we have to pay this or if others had to pay this before coming to US?

I believe that fee is for different visas.

That is an immigrant fee. A K-1 entrant does not pay that fee. USCIS page about it > http://www.uscis.gov/forms/uscis-immigrant-fee

Thanks! I just wanted to be sure. I am aware of the fees for AOS.........Cant say Im excited about it but definitely aware and ready! LOL
