Network president Jeff Zucker hits back at comments from rival channel

Fox chief executive Roger Ailes claims CNN is 'out of the news business'

The president of CNN has said the Republican Party is being run from the headquarters of Fox News Channel.

Jeff Zucker's comments on Friday were made in response to an interview Fox News chief executive Roger Ailes gave in December with The Hollywood Reporter, which published it this week.

In it, he suggested CNN had thrown in the towel on the news business after hearing Mr Zucker planned to have 'more shows and less newscasts.'

That either network claims any of its output is news is a stretch at the truth. This is what US media has come to, and my earlier comments were thought to be hyperbole? rofl.gifrofl.gifrofl.gif

To you. However, the centre of the universe is not you.

It doesn't matter to anyone unless they watch it. It is a News Report, Turn it off if you don't like it

It ain't all about you bro

F, you beat me to it.

So tell me who it actually matters to? It is a TV show. What happens if you don't watch it? What happens if no one watches it and it goes off the air? I get plenty of news and never see it on TV

This constant bickering over what News Stations say is nonsense, TURN IT OFF, Cut the cable, take your wife to the theatre or out to dinner with the money you save.

I mean do you really think I am selfish because I DON'T watch FOX news? Seriously? You WANT people to watch FOX news?

I doubt the universe is even aware Gary exists.

I hope you're right.

Actually, in point of fact it's an online newspaper article about a spat between two top network TV executives. It doesn't matter to me since I already have an opinion on the state of broadcast news media in the US, this story does nothing to alter it.

OK, so it doesn't matter to you either since you haven't watched it (although how someone watches a newspaper article is beyond me - presumably it involves staring at it and not reading?), but by the same token it does seem to matter to you since you apparently feel the need to point out to the world that it does not matter to you. I think we can count on the fingers of one-hand how many people *that* matters to.

Confused? Good.

There's a difference between selfish and self-obsessed - regardless, it's got nothing to do with the topic. Anyway, given that we are all adults here that we can all agree that noone is forcing anyone to watch broadcast news - why not just assume that it is a given but that some people are interested in talking about it (as is their right). I thought you were all about CHOICE.

I said nothing about being against anyone's CHOICE to debate silly topics. Of course they can.

FOX news is a TV show...a network actually, that repeats the same news over and over 24/7, just as CNN and MSNBC and who knows what other ones we have now...lord knows we need more 24/7 news! Some people will argue that one or the other is controlled by one or the other political party for political purposes, but NONE of them have any influence or matter to anyone unless you CHOOSE to allow it to matter to you. I don't. Pointing that out ,makes me "self absorbed"? I do not watch a commerical for profit news program filled with distorted news and allow it to concern me even for one second ...and therefore I am "self absorbed"? wacko.png

I am in favor of choice and opinion. In my opinion the news is not worth watching on TV so I choose not to. I also stated my opinion on that in this thread. Yet now I am accused of being against choice because my choice is not the same as others. Why can't I be interested in talking about my opinion that it does not matter?

You said you don't own a TV so it doesn't matter. That in itself isn't an opinion, in fact it adds precisely nothing to the topic. If it doesn't matter, it doesn't matter.

The fact that the thread is two days old and there are precisely 14 posts (15 including this one) is an indication of how much it matters to people.
