The USA is not like TV. Making a living is hard in the USA. Your finance will not be earning much of a salary with a drug conviction. All employers do background checks. I think you are making a bug mistake. You will not be able to afford to live in a good neighborhood. You will end up living in a low rent and very dangerous situation. All low rent places in the USA are overrun with drugs and guns.

I find it difficult to believe the USCIS approved the petition. They must be slacking.

Until recently I was seeking a K1 for my Burmese fiancé.

2012 09 27 First date
2013 01 01 Started cohabiting, and obtained a joint bank account
2013 07 13 Engagement
2013 10 11 Sent i129F to USCIS
2013 10 18 Received NOA1 from USCIS
2013 11 12 Received RFE notice - Almost decided to change the venue to Thailand. Sat on the RFE for about three weeks before proceeding.2013 12 20 RFE answer package received by USCIS
2013 12 23 NOA2 received from USCIS
2014 01 14 After demonstrating the hate Americans have tward the chidfree, my fiancé has no desire to visit the USA.

Going forward, I will sell off my remaining assets in the USA. I doubt I will ever return. Americans are second only to the French when it comes to rudeness.

I just replied to your sponsor question. Now I see this, you have some serious issues to consider before moving ahead with this.

If your thinking " he will change when I get there", THINK again. Many on this site will agree with me. Another person CANNOT change another person. That is like saying a " baby" will FIX our marriage. IT NEVER DOES!!!!

Now I understand why he has such a low salary. It is near impossible for him to gain employment. He will ALWAYS have a rough time gaining employment for the rest of his life with this legal history. I would not be surprised if he is unable to HOLD a job for any amount of time.

When applying for employment in the U.S., you are inquired about past legal issues.

If legal issues are present, most applications end up in the trash.

Seriously, you need to slow this down and review your options here. 4 times, that indicates a problem that is not going away and has not been delt with. Remember, this is the 4 times he has been CAUGHT. What about the other times. If he is getting caught, that is a serious consumption issue. Not to mention, he is on data basis in police agencies all around where he lives.

In addition, you mentioned above that one of the offenses was while he was driving. If that resulted in a DUI ( driving under the influece ), that is a min. $ 10,000.00 USD to address that issue alone.

You seem young, I am telling you ( as well as others on this site will tell you ), you SHOULD REALLY reconsider this petition.

There are serious RED FLAGS in your relationship not from an immigration point of view, but from a relationship point of view.

If you decide not to follow through with the petition, proceed with caution. Remember, you will NEED him to cancel the petition on his side.

Tell him your physically ill or your mother is ill and you cannot leave at this time and you have to take care of her.

Good luck to you.

Why are you telling her to lie to her fiancé? How about being an adult and telling him your true feelings?

What makes you think they are slacking? Petitions don't get denied unless the offense involves the Adam Walsh Act. Why blame the USCIS when they are required by any law to deny a petition based on a drug conviction of the USC?

The reason I mention this "Tell him your physically ill or your mother is ill and you cannot leave at this time and you have to take care of her." is because if she comes right out and say ": I do not want to be with you because I do not think you can support us or I am concerned about your drug use", he may just play hard ### and NOT cancell the petition.

By saying what I suggested, she can at least TRY to compell to his softer side and have him cancell the petition.

Heck, he has not given her the WHOLE STORY. She DOES NOT owe him anything.

And by the way, I grew up in a drug and alchol infested family. I have never used any of it. I know how these type of people think and operate.
