They just walk in with bio letter and center accepts it if there is less crowd on that day , just 'try and succeed' theory.

Nothing comes after the biometrics but the decision. When you send in your packet you get a receipt stating your green card is extended for a year and then you get your biometrics letter.

02/09/24: received NOA1 by mail

04/08/24: interview scheduled for 05/14. Received "We have taken an action in your case" email.

We got approved april 16... Should be getting the green card within the next month
