Where did all the Jews come from?

Can someone explain this logically to me? I just dont get it how Israel ended up in the middle of the middle east with all those Arabs surrounding them.

Check out the Old Testament of the Bible. There you will find the history of the Jewish nation as God's favored people and the story of them being given a land in the approximate region of Israel today.

Not sure where questioning about the Holocaust comes in...enough documentation to prove there was a genocide aimed at removing Jews, gays, blacks, etc. (in other words anyone deviating from the "perfect" race as deemed by Hitler et al.). Granting Israel as a land for Jewish people was a decision made by the superpowers of that time.

You can find a whole bunch of information on this by using Google.

Now can you explain how this is anything but a post to get people riled up on a touchy subject on an immigration board?

Actually, they were there thousands of years before the arabs. When the jews rebelled aghainst Rome for the second time, around 125 AD, rome sacked jeruselem, killed 750,000 Jews and drove all the other jews out of jeruselum. Oh my goodness another one with such limited and completely one-sided understanding of history. As if all modern Jews are descended from Hebrews. As if all modern descendants of Hebrews are Jews. As if the first people to settle the area were Hebrews. As if the Arabs were a race that totally supplanted the indiginous peoples living there, instead of intermixing with the local population. And as if the myriad different tribes who lived in the area never existed at all, and as if their descendants don't still live there today.

I really have no time for this now.

After World War II, Jordan, Syria and Lebanon all declared their independence from Great Britain and began setting up independent nations. The British protectorate of Palestine, with a majority Arab population and a growing Jewish minority (largely Holocaust survivors), also began agitating. In 1948, Britain washed its hands of the troubled region and handed the problem over to the United Nations.

The United Nations divided Palestine into Arab and Jewish sections; the Jewish portion held elections and declared itself the nation of Israel in 1948. Israel was, however, stuck in the midst of a bunch of Muslim-majority lands, most of whom have steadfastly refused to accept its existence. Its neighbors almost immediately declared war on it and invaded. With U.S. aid, the Israelis not only drove back the invasion, they seized a good chuck of new land, enlarging their country by 1/3. Thousands of Arab refugees who had fled their homes during the first Arab-Israeli war were denied re-entry into Israel; they ended up in squalid refugee camps in neighboring states, where they and their children have been ever since.

Oh and I forgot.

As if every Jew expelled by the Romans (or the Assyrians, or the Babylonians) went to Russia or Europe, as if none fled to nearby Middle Eastern countries, where their communities flourished for centuries (and in many cases, despite the considerable backlash over the forcible creation of a Jewish state at the expense of Arab Palestinians, still do flourish.)

Sheesh. History is so fascinating. I don't know why it seems that so few people want to actually study it.

I don't know how many Jews Hitler personally killed himself, but YES he did order and have killed over 6 million Jews during WW2 and NO,

not all these Jews were killed were in Germany.........

The more I try to understand why Palestinians hate Israel so much, the more I agree with palestinians and feel that the world and the UN conspired against Palestinians in 1948. Basically that they kicked palestinians from their lands and planted people from elsewhere and made them refugees in their own country. And changed the country's name from Palestine to Israel.

The world is really f'cked up if the world can can be so brazen to be unjust to one country. Well Iraq is going on and everyone now has accepted the injustice there.

You know what, people need to understand what the f is going on in the world.
