Hello - I am a permanent resident and I was wondering if somebody have any suggestion on how to get my family here. I was thinking in calling in my dad first so that he can find a job and eventually get all my family members here. Here's my question: Would he be able to get a working visa after entering as tourist?

Thank you all.

For a work visa he has to be sponsored by a company and that company has to be willing to pay for it. If he is in a technicial field that is somewhat liekly . If he is non skilled it isn't going to happen. You can't come on a tourist visa with intent to stay

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

A person entering the US on a tourist visa is not allowed to work nor seek employment.

If he wants to legally work in the US, he must find an employer first who will sponsor the work visa for him.

A work visa is much more complicated than that.

First, work visas are not just given to any foreigner.

Second, work visas are sponsored by employers.

Third, the employer must demonstrate why he cannot hire a US person and have to get a work visa to bring in a foreign worker. The US does not like letting foreign workers in who will take jobs away from US citizens and LPRs. There has to be a need for a foreign worker because there is no available US worker.

Your dad needs to have very specialize skills, and he needs a US employer willing to spend the money and time to get him a work visa.
