I134 Cosponsor and Questions

Hello! My fiance's interview date is fast approaching and we have some questions regarding the I-134 Affidavit of support. First, I am a recent graduate and just got a new, full-time job. This new job makes well over the 125% of the poverty line. However, since I'm new out of school, my previous year's W2 and tax return is well below that cutoff. I have supplied a letter from my employer with my salary and start date, as well as recent pay stubs and bank statements. Should I send a W2 also? Or a letter explaining the situation? Or will that raise red flags?

Second, because this is a new job, I am using a co-sponsor. My father is submitting also a letter from employer, bank statements dating up to a year back, pay stubs, and a house appraisal. However, also no W2.

Do I need a co-sponsor if my current job is making over 125%? And does it look bad to not include any W2s, but submit other evidence? Do I have enough evidence? Is there anything else that you would suggest we do?

Please help! Need advice.

just to be on the safe side, write a letter explaining the situation and yes, i would also provide the w-2. i sent that all to my fiance and we had no issues.

as for the co-sponser, as long as your current job shows that you make more than the poverty line, you do not need one. but i would also say that if it makes you more comfortable, go ahead and send your parents info. its always better to have more, than not enough.

lastly, dont forget to send a copy of your birth certificate with your i-134, to prove your citizenship.

Great! I did send both my and my co-sponsor's birth certificate, just forgot to mention it.

But just to clarify, you think I should send my W-2 just with an explanation of my current work situation? (It won't look bad?) And it shouldn't be a problem that I do not have my co-sponsor's W-2 (since I am providing other supporting documents)?

yes i would send everything you have just to be on the safe side. i needed a co-sponser for my fiance because i had to leave my job this year for health reasons, and last year i was travelling abroad so my w-2 showed hardly any money made, but they didnt red flag us. as long as you have proof that you or your co-sponser makes above the poverty line, you will be fine.

i sent the w-2 and everything i had because i wanted to be safe rather than sorry. i over did it because i wanted to make sure we didnt get a 221g...and we didnt. over the top, maybe but worth it in my eyes!
