Federal income tax return is the 1040 form, W2 is only the form provided by the employer.

Also acceptable get copies of tax transcripts, they are the certified data from the IRS, they are FREE.

We also did the same, only sent W-2s and got the same RFE. We then ordered Return Transcripts which took a whole freaking month to come (even tho IRS claims to process those requests within 10 business days)! Replied to RFE using FAX copies of transcripts (USCIS said fax copies were ok on the misinformation line) and so far so good.

If you can find blank copies of tax forms, you can prepare them like you did before and submit a notarized photo copy. Some people still prepare taxes themselves. But, if you are one of those that filed online and didn't retain a copy, then you will need to request a copy from the IRS. If it took someone only one month to get the copies, that's considered timely by the IRS.

Just another reason why you always keep copies of anything sent to the government, no matter what department.

We were also asked of the same thing,& we're sure we have submitted them, but then again, we just submitted what they're asking for, no questions asked. So far,everything went on after that RFE. We're back on the track again.
