Time from information request

We filed my wife's initial forms way back in May. USCIS claims that they sent us a notice back on 10/4 telling me that they needed further information but we never received it and we've been checking the mail every single day. Back on 11/4 we requested it be re-sent and were supposed to get it today but we still have received nothing. I've followed all their instructions and so far I've got nothing from them but the runaround. When I called today I was told that they have not even re-sent the request and that we have 87 days from the original sending(which we never got) to respond or our case expires. The rep then said that while they claim 15 days on the telephone, it can take up to 30 days for them to actually send it out. I've tried making an appointment via the website at the field office to talk to someone there but it looks like they're all full up.

Any suggestions as to what I need to do here?

Did you verify the address where they are sending? Did you ever receive your NOA1 letter (I-797C) okay?

Seems like a mailing issue. Verify and reverify.

Yes, we received receipts for both back in early June. They're sitting on our refrigerator. We only thought something was up when we didn't hear anything from them by October. I initially started calling in October and was told that it was going to be 6 months so I didn't think anything of it until late October.

Is there a way to find out what information it is that they are asking for any other way? 87 days would put this right around 12/27/13 and that's going to be too close as far as I can tell. I don't want to lose all the $$ that I've spent on the filing fees.

ok - here's Uncle Darnell's handy-dandy way to get returned mail pieces sent on to you ..

1. call USCIS National Call Center. punch no buttons after phone starts ringing.

2. when a human comes on the phone, it's a CSR, Spanish speaker. Let them wind down, say 'English Please'.

3. When the CSR winds down again, say - Hey ! i have returned mail pieces that I have to chase down. Please transfer me to an ISO, a Tier 2 Rep.

4. Wait on hold, 2 minutes to 3 hours.

5. Get the ISO? Great ! If not, repeat 1..4 until you do.

6. With the ISO - Hey ! You gots any returned mail pieces on me? Great ! I need you to send them on to my address (give over the proper address)

Give it a whirl tomorrow. You need the RFE so you can act on it. Talking with a CSR at this juncture is absolutely, totally useless.

Go Get Em, and Good Luck !

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

Ok, we got the paperwork. She needs her tax return from last year, which she filled in manually. Now we need to request the tax transcript. Problem is that they'll send it to her old address, which we just filed a change of address for. I can't believe she never filed a change of address. Is there some way to get a tax transcript online or just have one mailed?

Update here. We got a notice 1/15/14 that they had received the updated paperwork(info that I sent in). How long does the review take? Her work visa expires in May and we're starting to get a little nervous. The web site says it's still under review.
