We have documents in Dutch and Hebrew that need to be translated. What are the rules for this? Does the translated copy need to be stamped/certified and or can this be done online? Any suggestion? Thanks smile.png

My wife and I translated all non-english legal documents into "certified" english translations, at an office, in her country (Ukraine), with the exception of her birth certificate... We overlooked that one because the consulate in Kiev didn't require such for issuing the K-1 visa... . butttttt............ We discovered after she arrived in the US, that we needed to have a certified english translation of her birth certificate for her AOS (I-485) application... so we looked for an office in our area of the US (as we had done in Kiev) that did such things.... Most could not help us, but those that could were way overpriced... So we opted for an online company for her birth certificate translation... It cost under $30 and their turnaround time is about 24 hours (except weekends and holidays)... We submitted her AOS application, haven't received any RFE's (Thanks God) and we are scheduled to be interviewed on Dec. 3rd.

You can do the translation yourself and just add a statement that identifies you as the translator and that you translated the document faithfully. There's an example on the USCIS website, here (scroll down to where it says Certification by Translator).

I had my documents translated by my sister-in-law, who speaks nearly flawless English even though she's not an official translator. :)

02/14/2014 - Case shipped to Embassy, where it waited for over a year at my request                                 11/07/2015 - AOS approved (EAD and AP had already been approved) - there was no interview

05/21/2015 - Interview - Approved

01/21/2019 - ROC Approved - there was no interview

 

The N-400 journey:

02/16/2020 - N-400 application filed online

02/21/2020 - Paper NOA received in the mail

03/13/2020 - Biometrics

02/02/2021 - Interview & test - Approved

02/05/2021 - Oath Ceremony

Anyone fluent in both languages can translate. They just need to include this certification on each translated document > http://www.visajourney.com/content/translations
