Updating Social Security Immmigration Status

Wife's swearing in shouold be sometime in the next couple months. Getting the list together of who and what we need to update on her immigration status. Which got us to talking about the social-security number:

Speaking in purely hypothetical terms: how likely is it that they (social security administration) would have the wrong status on her file? She got her number 10 years ago when she became an LPR--after she got her greencard. Going over the list of evidence / identity documentation required to get a number, how likely would it be for them to have her listed as "citizen" all this time and not "legal resident?"

a. If the status was screwed up shouldn't it have kicked on some background check over the years?

b. Should it have shown up / flagged on her background checks performed by the USCIS when she applied for US citizenship?

c. If the status is screwed up with social-security, is it a big deal or do we just fix it and go on with life?

Wait at least a month before bringing the naturalization certificate in to Social Security.

Even better, apply for the U.S. passport first, and bring the passport in to Social Security. This approach is apparently a lot more efficient and effective than the one above.

30 days minium is what the local SSA told us when we called them.

But can she get in trouble with USCIS if the SSA has (hypothetically) had her listed as a USC since she got her number? We know she didn't use any fraudulent info or documents when she applied for her number in 2004. But her interview experience has left me and her both questioning every thing we've ever filled out over the last ten years. Now we're worried that she might have ticked the wrong box under the "citizenship" portion of the form (we're sure she didn't but after the interview we're just second guessing everything); even if she had it should have been caught by the clerk or caused a denial of the number seeing as her documentation wouldn't support a claim of USC. Plus, I'm thinking the USCIS would have found something like that on the background checks.

After all the headaches and scares we've been through with this process, she's just worried they'll yank her citizenship if there's an error in the SSA database.

I didn't wait no 30 days, in fact I was at the SSA office within one week of received my certificate and the process took me about 20 minutes.

No need to wait - I went the same day right after my Oath ceremony. They (SS office) took a photo copy of my brand spanking new Naturalization Certificate and sent me on my way.

I filled out the form on the drive between the oath and the SS office

Took me 8 minutes. The office was empty. They do not keep your NC. I was told that I would be updated in 2 days. Better to update the SS status then do the passport. I have heard of incidents where persons did not receive their NC from the passport office. Just saying.
