Hi VJer's,

Me and and my Fiance are confused about this Aline Registration Number, i don't know if we should look for that in USCIS website or only the Government or the Consular officer or whatsoever will be the one to provide that. And also i know i have posted this question but still not getting a clear answer yet, it's about my name. I am a transgender and my friends been calling me Vanessa since 2006, though i did not legally change my name. Do i have to write that also in the form? Because some of our conversation log like skype has my name "Vanessa" on it. I will really appreciate all your answers. Thank you and God bless us all!

hi,

I don't know the answer about the name, but the Alien number is your resident number, meaning your GC number

once you enter the US and marry, you will need to adjust status to become a LPR.

immigration will give you an Alien number which will be the number on your GC.

the K1 is a non immigrant visa, it's only to legally enter the country to marry.

to become a permanent resident you will have to do a second process, the adjustment of status, where you will get your A#

Thank you! I'm also kinda confused about the fees in filing a petition, do you have any idea about it? I read it in uscis that it's 240$, but i heard before that it was 300$ something.. thanks!

for now the only form is the i129f., I don't know how much it costs. you can read about others going through the process and I'm sure someone else will chime in with more information.

all immigration forms are on the uscis website, so check the i129f

You will have to go my your legal name and you can put Vanessa under "other names used." A cover letter explaining the situation will go a long way.

Leave the Alien Registrartion number box blank. You'll get it while they processing your I-129F-look at my timeline- and will be shown on NOA-2 hardcopy of your fiance's I-129F. Good luck.

I have to apply for legalization of my other name????? That is too expensive and long process i think, Vanessa is just only like my other nick name, not the name that i use in anything legal. I only use Vanessa as a nick name and name on our skype conversation and Vanessa saved on his phonebook. Do i really have to go through that?

you need to put your given name at birth on the form if you never had any legal name change thru the court system. if you are the petitioner, you have to submit your US birth cert or your US Passport as proof of your US citizenship and you need to put whatever name shows on those documents. this holds true as well if you are the Alien beneficiary, you will be asked to submit a copy of your passport and your birth certificate .
