Congrats, I hope it all goes smoothly for you!

Relax a little bit first and then start preparing for the next steps. Inform your employer of the letter stating your employment that you'll need and ask how long it'll take for you to get it from them, so when the time comes that you need it your employer will already know about it. Click on "embassy info" up top and find your fiance's embassy or consulate. See which forms the embassy will send him in packet 3. Have him download those forms from this website, fill them out, print them, and stash them somewhere safe - then when he gets packet 3 in the mail he can just copy the info over and not have to rush around to gather everything. The DS-230, for example, requires that he list his last 10 years of employment - that could take some time and thinking to put together. It'd be better to take the next few months to do that at a relaxed, no-pressure pace than to rush rush rush later. Write snail mail letters back and forth and keep the envelopes, which show the return address and the postmark with the mailing city and date. Store and organize your e-mails and chat logs. Keep and organize your phone bills. Learn what he'll need to do for the police certificates so that, when the time comes, he already knows what he's doing. Have him get his birth certificate translated into English, if necessary.

You get the point. Maybe it's just me being paranoid about it all, but me personally... I'd like this process to go as fast as possible. Why sit like a dead duck for this processing time and then not know what to do when the next stage comes when I could use the time to prepare instead? :) Besides, it makes me feel less jittery and helpless about the visa process.

Thank you soo much, that was a great idea, i just did that this morning, since i am the foreign fiancée ;)

I already feel much better and kinda prepared, even though, it is still a long journey :(

Congrats on getting it all sent off! I remember what a good feeling that was - like a weight off our shoulders... although, like someone else said upthread, I started worrying almost instantly that we'd forgotten something or, you know, managed to get our own names wrong on the forms or something like that. That's where the copies of everything we'd sent came in handy... for all those 'nooooo, I just *bet* I put my own year of birth down as 2006, I just know it!' moments of irrational panic - very reassuring to be able to double-check!

Anyway... good luck, and I hope everything progresses smoothly and quickly (well, quickly by USCIS standards, anyway) for you!

2005 - We met

2006 - Filed I-129F

2007 - K-1 issued, moved to US, completed AOS (a busy year, immigration-wise)

2009 - Conditions lifted

2010 - Will be naturalising. Buh-bye, USCIS! smile.png
