For everyone that went the civil marriage route... did you have witnesses? I cannot find if Georgia requires witnesses for a civil marriage. I recently moved to Georgia and my family won't be present for the civil marriage. My fiance family is miles away! I am hoping we can have an intimate ceremony in Georgia.

We got married in a court in Orlando and we had plenty of family to be witnesses but they didn't ask. So, I guess they don't require it - but in any case, any person can be a witness - so the court employees can be witnesses too if needed - they all enjoy the 'little' weddings that take place from time to time. Good Luck

Since our visa took much longer than we anticipated, we'd already done the celebrating with family thing, so the two of us went to the court house alone. A couple of the judge's assistants were our witnesses and they seemed more than happy to do it (and to make sure that we got a copy of the certificate that very day).

A retired judge recommended by the county courthouse officiated our wedding in Lincoln, Nebraska. Witnesses were required.

We had a civil ceremony in Georgia with a judge. My friend who stood up with me and my Dad served as our witnesses. Two were required.

We were married in Tifton Georgia at the Courthouse with just the Judge present. We had no witnesses.

10/01/08 Biometrics completed

03/02/09 Case transferred to CSC

04/04/2009 Received approval letter

03/31/2009 Date of Decision

05/01/2009 Card production ordered

05/07/2009 Received card
