Not to nitpick but "wars" are acts of aggression by definition.

Before the "Great society" was ushered in by Johnson (an actual war) can it be said that the poor had been under in a state of war since our founding ... due to lack of cash payments up until that time?

Does my neighbor not supplying me with whatever I choose to buy at Trader Joe's mean he is at war with me?

So quit with the liberal wordage, you just end up looking silly to all but that 21% who claim to be liberal sheep.

I think it is safe to say, nearly everyone (except some diehard libertarians) believe in programs to aid those who can not help themselves.

Pimping poverty is big business al the way down the line from those who push such wasteful programs with teary eyes to the Agr businesses and then State level hucksters who dole these funds out through their campaign supporters (Community organizers) and then on down to those who don't even deserve to live off the backs of those who do work and contribute.

So no, there is no "war against the hungry", the actual war is against those who do the right things in life, as these people never end up in poverty yet are required to carry those who do.
