have you tried going directly to some airline websites and checking prices there? There have been times we've found better rates and flights that way.

Also, if they can get to Buffalo and fly out of there, it will be MUCH cheaper. Especially since they'll be staying within the state.

www.cheaptickets.com is also pretty good, but gives the prices in USD, so keep that in mind. :)

I found better prices from Northwest (YAY!!) and Continental directly from their websites, so don't forget to check those. Yes, even Air Canada (bleh).

Oh yeah...those too....Continental was ok, flies through Newark. Haven't flown Northwest yet, but Joel seems to like them pretty well. Air Canada was ok, I flew with them on the way home a few weeks ago. :)

When I have flown back to S'toon from DC Air Canada has been the cheapest

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

Your choices are limited to West Jet, CanJet, Air Canada, American & Continental if you're flying from Toronto and want direct flights (I'm not sure if Continental flies direct), with the demise of Jetsgo there is no longer a cheap fare to NYC or Newark. I doubt there will be seat sales for Easter so expect atleast $300. As someone mentioned, try Buffalo, the bus ride is reasonable in price and length if you don't drive and the fare will be cheaper from there.

Yeah, that's not a great time to fly...being a holiday and all. Bus sounds like a reasonable alternative :)

  • 2 weeks later...

Suggestion>

If you want to get a cheaper price, don't book online, go to a travel agent because airlines usually give bigger discounts to agents.

My husband usually booked his tickets online but with all my travels I booked with an agency. My husband tried it and was able to save 150-200 dollars for his flights.

But travel agencies also got different rates.. I usually compare 3 to 4 agencies whoever charges the lowest get's my booking.

Ive'd saved a lot and I just want to share these to you guys.It might help you in anyway.
