There is no evidence that the process would be faster with a lawyer. Infact some parts may even be slower as you will have a middle man (or woman) to deal with.

There are rumours going around, which are probably correct, that almost all the I-130s except those expedited or filed where both abroad are piling up in the new Kansas centre, you will be able to tell from the address on your NOA1. That centre is supposed to start on those at the end of this month so fingers crossed things will speed up.

In the meantime the stated goal for USCIS to approve the I-130 is meant to be 5 months. If you reach this without hearing anything (which I expect to be the case) then a congressional enquiry by one of your senators or representatives would be the fastest way to get some answers and save you an infopass appointment.

Hi everyone just wondering if anyone has been approved that applied in may2013? I also have a quick question. I didnt get a lawyer if i would of, would the process go faster or the same

Thanks

Yadi

I doubt it, there are people from Jan, Feb and March are still waiting for approval. So be patience, I know easier said than done, but what else can we do?

I believe one May filer at least has received NOA2, but their case was sent to CSC. There are a bunch of us overseas May filers whose cases have also been sent to Overland Park, KS, so abroad filers no longer seem to get "special" treatment.

IR1 took 520 days....

If I had known more about the process before (and our immigration plans) I would have tried to do DCF. That seems the only way to get a decent I-130 turn around time these days dry.png

thank you for the information. yes my petition is in kansas, so hopefully it will get approved soon. this waiting process is stressful

And just wait, after your I-130 is accepted, be prepared to wait even more months for NVC! Took my I-130 almost 3 months just to GET to NVC after NOA2 and then it has been about 1-month or more for NVC to even LOOK at a single piece of paper and each correction required is another month.
