EAD is the employment authorization doc. and the AP is the Advance Parole- it provides a non-immigrant K-1 visa holder permission to re-enter the United States while their Legal Permanent Resident Adjustment of Status (AOS) application is pending.

I looked it up...I'm not that smart

Lol...Amiga, thank u so much... i wish u the best.. Edited by sind27

Thanks Yanet! Yes the EAD allows your spouse to work here in the US until the AOS is complete which can be several months. Annie is very anxious to get out of the house and get a job. The AP is required only if you need to travel out of the country before your status is adjusted. My son is getting married in Mexico so I want to make sure Annie can travel with me to the wedding. I hope everything goes quickly for you.

Thank u so much... our interview is next months... :)

B is driving me nuts because he's so bored! Keeping him entertained is definitely the hardest thing right now.

Hi all -

First of all, apologies for the radio-silence the past few weeks; I decided that, for the sake of my sanity, I had to cut myself off from VJ for a bit. Being among the last waiting on an NOA2, I was getting dangerously obsessive helpsmilie.gif

To all of you who have received good news in the interim, very heartfelt congratulations!

I am happy to report that we can FINALLY (after 6 months and 1 week, ouuuuuf!) share in the excitement...we received our text/email notification of NOA2 approval late last night!

Maybe the universe was just waiting for us to be together to receive the news. I had just arrived in Qatar to see R. early that day dancin5hr.gif

Thank you, thank you, thank you to all of you who were so helpful with emotional support and wise advice as we freaked over the delay. We're fairly certain that it was the Senator weighing in that finally tipped the balance...for future reference, Maine's Constituent Services Rep is incredible!

On to the NVC...I can finally shift my research to the next phase, wohooooo! I hear we pick up the pace from here on out?

Congratulations! This must officially make us the LAST couple who filed in September to still be waiting on an approval. Today was the deadline on our SECOND service request. My fiancée will call tomorrow to see if they can tell us anything new but I doubt it, just more run-around and then they'll probably give us a THIRD service request date. I guess it's now time to get our congressman on it. Can anyone tell me what exactly that entails? I'm not an American citizen so I don't even truly know what a congressman does. Something has got to give! It's been over 200 days since we received our NOA1 and about 166 days since we last saw each other. Thank goodness she came to visit me in October! We almost decided not to go through with that trip thinking we'd be approved soon and could save the money for our wedding. Boy, I'm glad we didn't listen to ourselves!! Well, congrats again. Please, everyone, say a prayer for us. Thanks.

Sorry, I was mistaken, it's been 190 days since we received the NOA1 not 200. It's been over 200 since we FILED but 190 since receiving the NOA1.

Hi all -

Just a quick update on one of the slowest of the slow poke September petitions...

Exactly 2 weeks after receiving our NOA2, our file arrived at the NVC! The rep gave me our case number, beneficiary ID, and invoice number for the Embassy phase :dancing:

Also, they are honoring our request to process outside of the beneficiary's home country. Good news all around, and so quickly compared to the excruciating wait for the NOA2!!

Jens prodigy -

Just wanted to check in and see if you'd seen any movement on your petition? Thoughts are with you - that wait is gutwrenching, but it will absolutely happen and for sure soon. Have you gotten the Congressional ball rolling yet?

Take solice in the fact that the pace drastically picks up once you get over this hurdle...hang in there!

Hi nina.mb

So glad to hear things are finally moving along for you guys. Thanks for thinking of us. Unfortunately, we still have no good news to report...well, no approval anyway and the last check-in we did with USCIS they basically told us to buzz off and wait. They said there's nothing else they can tell us. So that's where we are. Sigh. Well, at least it's good to hear that the next steps move a lot faster because this is excruciating. We did fax a letter to our congressman, so far no response from him. I'll tell my fiancée to call his office this week instead. Thanks again for your encouraging words. All the best to you and your love. Please pray that we will hear something soon.

Quick update. Ruby had her interview at the embassy last Friday. She filed the DS-160 before getting packet 3 (and frankly still hasn't received the packet), called for an appointment and they must have had an opening because she called on 3/27 and they gave her an appointment on the 4th. So needless to say it was off to the races to get my I-134 in to FedEx the next morning (good thing I had already pulled together all the backup) and she hauled to Manila that Friday to get her medical done. The interview went well, normal questions which she handled well. They said she's going to need to provide some additional documentation: a CENOMAR (didn't think we needed one since she had all the court documentation from her prior annulled marriage), an NBI clearance under her prior married name, and a police clearance from Japan. Didn't really think we needed those things from the instructions we downloaded from the embassy website, but guess we did. Only real bummer is that the Japan embassy says that the clearance is going to take 2-3 months (though I see from some posts in the forum that it could take less). So back into the waiting game.

One thing I've had a problem with is whenever I go to the CEAC website to check the status of the application and put in her MNL number, I get an error message that says "Application Error An unexpected error has occurred while processing your previous request. The error has been reported to the site administrator; no further action is required." Anyone else get that message, or am I doing something wrong?
