So, I'm needing a co-sponsor since I did not work last year. My aunt has no problems filling that role for me. She's never been married and has no dependents. I want to make sure I have her forms done correctly (I'm doing most of the filling out to save her hassel).

I'm petitioning my wife and stepson.

On my aunts I-864 for my wife I have:

Part 2: Information on Principal Immigrant
<Wife's Name>

Part 3.

Questions 2 through 6

ALL BLANK ( I DO NOT LIST STEP SON ANYWHERE ON WIFES I-864)

Part 5

1. 0

2. 1

3 through 7 : 0

8. 1

She left all assets blank as she makes enough to sponsor the two immigrants. I'm assuming blakn spaces are ok on this form.

This is all duplicated for the step sons I-864 from my aunt.

Help is appreciated..I want to get these documents sent here ASAP but correctly, too.

Thank you!!

I have the instructions and the forms filled out. I'm trying to make sure they're 100% before spending the money to ship here.

I was under the impression that you wouldn't mention the step son on wife's affidavit, nor the wife on step sons affidavit since they're 2 different petitions. I think that also leads to counting them twice, as well.. not sure though.

Counting them twice would be if your wife was listed as the immigrant and the spouse on your I-864 making her two people, not one person.

You would need to list your stepson on wife's co-sponsor I-864s because the aunt is sponsoring both people I believe.

Your belief is incorrect.

You are correct about the separate petitions issue, but no, it does not lead to counting them twice. Sounds like you have the affidavits completed correctly. The discussion hopefully educated at least one other person on a couple important issues they had the wrong idea about. idea9dv.gif

Your answer was "intuitive" but the I-864 is not that intuitive.idea9dv.gif
