K-1 (Fiance(e)) Visa Appointment Checklist

Please obtain all of the documents requested before the date of your interview. Failure to do so will result in delayed processing of your application.

_____Two completed copies of all application forms:

- Form DS-156 http://evisaforms.state.gov or http://kingston.usembassy.gov/fees/forms.html

- Form DS-156K (do not sign) http://kingston.usembassy.gov/fees/forms.html

- Form DS-157 http://kingston.usembassy.gov/fees/forms.html

_____Passport: Valid for travel 6 months beyond date of visa issuance.

_____Photographs: Six (6) color photographs that show a full front view of facial features.

­­­_____Birth Certificate: Certified copy in the new style issued by the Registrar General’s Department on security paper for you and any accompanying children.

­­­_____Marriage Certificate and Death Certificate or Divorce Decree: For all previous marriages.

_____Police Certificate: From all countries (including Jamaica) where you have resided for more than a year since your 16^th birthday. Police certificates are valid for one year from the date of issuance.

_____Court Records: If you have been convicted of a crime or other offence, obtain a certified court record covering each offence.

_____Military Records: If you have served in the military.

_____Certificate(s) of Non-Impediment to Marriage: Issued by the Registrar General’s Department on security paper for you and any children aged 18 or older.

_____Evidence of Support: Typically, evidence submitted will consist of a Form I-134 http://kingston.usembassy.gov/fees/forms.html completed by the petitioning fiancé/fiancée along with the sponsor’s most current taxes and W2 statements, current bank statements, earnings statements, and an employment letter.

_____Medical Examination: For you and any accompanying children. Medical exams are valid for one year from the date of issuance.

_____Application Fee: You must pay the non-refundable US$240 visa fee (or Jamaican dollar equivalent) at the US Embassy. Each applicant, including children, must pay the fee, which is valid for one year.

Thanks for posting the updates,i appreciate it very much.It will be very helpful when i get to these other steps as i am awaiting my NOA2.Can any of these be done/prepared while waiting for NOA2?

The Police Certificate and the Certificate of Non-impediment takes about 5 - 30 days to receive. You can work on immunization shots. From other VJers, they say that their own shot record was verified at a clinic and accepted at medical.

ok,thanks but what about the DS230,I thought i saw someone mention it before for K1?

Do we still fill out the DS-156, 157 156k after the DS-160? or did the DS-160 replace the other 3 forms?

I received a reply from the embassy today, I was told to complete DS230 part 1 & part 2,along with DS156,DS156K & DS157 prior to my interview.

I'm glad they responded to you. I will prepare those forms and email them to my fiance tonight. Did they give you an interview? they should still have some November dates open

it's all weird they responded to an email i sent October 22 which was 3 days ago.I was asking them which form do i need to use in order to schedule my interview between the DS160,DS230 & DS260.they clearly stated the DS230 along with the other forms that needed for the interview.I email the DS230 & DS160 yesterday evening as i was unsure of what form they were needing.they never respond to that email i sent yesterday,but i resend the email today a minute after i receive their reply.later this evening my status update to today's date but i don't know what it means.I hope they will have my interview date by next week...*fingers crossed*

Thank you this is helpful....but my fiancée electronically submitted the ds-160 and now I heard we need to scan embassy the ds-230 but then I was told I was set???? Help please!

did you contact DOS and was told you had an interview date set?if that's the case, then you wouldn't need to submit the DS230.

I'm contacting the DOS today and I've sent Kingston 3 e mails requesting information but nothing:(....I feel like I'm spinning my wheels but getting no where!!!
