  • FOR K-VISA APPLICANTS
    • K1 Visa Applicants who are married may proceed with the medical examination.
  • FOR IMMIGRANT VISA APPLICANTS
    • No Interview Appointment letter, No Medical Examination. All applicants must present a copy of their interview appointment letter before their medical examination can be performed.

Does this mean that K1 Fiancee applicants are now required to schedule an interview appointment first before doing the medical? I was planning to go to the Medical first since I already have the Instruction letter from NVC.

  • K1 visa applicants must present their instruction letter from the National Visa Center if they have not yet scheduled their Interview appointment.

The way it reads is K1 applicants can use the instruction letter from NVC, but immigrant visa applicants can't. But, I think immigrant applicants have appointment set by NVC and K1 you choose your own appointment.

You can surly try it and see what they do. Just print that page from their site saying that an instruction letter from NVC can be used by K1 if Interview isn't scheduled.

But, you can schedule an appointment online very easily and are able to change that appointment date twice. I think it would be better to just schedule an appointment for around the time you want and then if you need to change it later you can, so that way you will have the appointment letter.

----

And I don't understand how someone can be married and applying for K1. I thought K1 was for fiance visa?

If you are a K1 and already married, you don't need the appointment letter.

Read the actual page... For K-1 it states:

K1 visa applicants MUST present their instruction letter from the National Visa Center if they have not yet scheduled their Interview Appointment.

SLEC wants the Appointment Letter or the NVC Letter!

(Psst!! Tahoma... you best read this, like I kept telling you SLEC has been asking for these more and more as of late.. now its in writing)

Exactly that is also my question : "Sorry i don't get this part..How could u be a K1 and already married?"

It is a little bit misleading.... isn't it?

I think that is a typo, if you read the actual page it doesn't state that.

I guess the reason why St. Lukes is now requiring the NVC letter if there was no scheduled appointment yet, is because there were applicants who were going to St. Lukes without the appointment yet nor the NVC letter but just the manila case number....

It had been done that way for quite a few years, just bring the confirmation page from scheduling online and know the MNL # ... no issues.

But over this last year SLEC has been getting more vocal about wanting a letter from either NVC or USEM with the beneficiary's name and the MNL #. Now they have "taken the worry out of being close" and put it in writing.
