I don't think so. I think he meant older Filipino man with younger American woman... which would, indeed, be quite rare.

Being familiar with Boiler's posting style and noting who he is commenting on, a Filipino female with a much older American male partner, I am pretty sure he was being facetious and feigning shock to hear about a much older fiance who is American in the Filipino forum and how amazing that must be at that consulate, when in fact it is commonplace so doesn't really apply to the OP's situation. I think his sentence structure just made it seem like he said the male was from the Philippines. I could be wrong.

Well, Greizy initially wrote <<my fiance is 34 yrs older than me.. wink.png>>

Probably, Boiler was joking because fiance(♂) was used instead of fiancee(♀), but who am I to comment on other people's jokes :P

What would Xenu do?

Yes, Greizy is a female and thus the fiancee. Therefore, I assume Boiler was commenting on the situation she was mentioning in her post about herself and her fiance who is the American male.

Thanks once again. I'm new to the forum part of this site, so I just noticed the list of people on the side of the screen who got their visas and the ones who have the interview today. It made me tear up. I'm so, so hoping that early next year the fiance and I will be there.

Just to say that the person at the consulate, while looking at my picture, was like "so, what is the age different between you two?" and, with a very suspicious look, she then had a look at his picture while I was answering "14 years". Right after that, she approved our visa.

They are jsut trying to make you feel super uncomfortable which you already are usually. Nothing to worry about if it is bona fide relationship.

Presumably you are going through Paris?
