Hi, i know this is a crazy question - but, my fiance is German and he met a US lawyer (my fiance is working on a cruise ship) and the lawyer told him that there was NO WAY he would ever be approved for a K1 visa because he is German. He is completely freaked out, and so am I!! Can anyone give us info to the contrary?? He is completely bummed and wants to stop the process and for me to move to Germany. Any one else's experiences much appreciated!! Thanks, Amanda

The lawyer must have just come from the bar. Simply ridiculous to say that. See the guides to find the correct forms ect to begin the case and file the petition.

If we ( and thousands of others) can do it ALONE, with no lawyer - so can you! what are ya waiting for?!

THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT!! I told him this - he is very worried that Americans are not pro-Germany. I will share this with him - thank you for alleviating his fears! I know it is a long road -but I see light at the end of the tunnel!! Thanks again!

The bar as in the place where they serve you drinks, and he had one too many. Plenty of Germans obtain any sort of US visas. Also, I think that the US Consulate in Germany is probably pretty relaxed, as Germany is not a high-fraud country.

I've never heard of a major problem with any European country, but in case you want to see something more definite, I just filtered this to show Germany only so you can see what's actually happening, at least with members of this site...if they were all getting denied, I'm sure there'd have been something posted about it.

We're very much pro-German. America has a huge German population.

You won't have any problems at all due to your fiance' being German. No worries!

Thank you all for your support! I am so happy I found this forum. This is, obviously, new to both of us. I can't believe anyone would be denied based on his/her country of origin. Again, thanks for the support- it means so much to us!

I know!! The US is very closely aligned with Germany. He still thinks that there is some prejudice to Germans. I told him that is crazy- so many Germans here in Chicago and Milwaukee - I live between those two cities. I will tell him that there is no preference to certain countries. I hope he believes me! Btw, the US gives visas to people in Pakistan, Iran, Cuba, Afghanistan... That lawyer really is a blockhead...

Harpa- I know you are right - he was just so freaked out when a US lawyer told him NO WAY!! He wanted to end it with me at that point.. How crazy. I thank you for your support!

For some reason, he thinks Germans will be scrutinized more closely. I told him it only matters that we want to marry - even if we never live in the US. He wants me to go to Germany, thinking that will be 'easier',
