hi there!

My husband had his interview this week, and we got it approved!

Questions asked in no particular order:

1. how did he meet his wife

2. what does she do

3. what do you do

4. does she work for your employer too

5. how long have you been married

Although he took a package full of documents and a huge photo album, only thing they requested to see is evidence of my PR.

Now we are waiting for our passports. Our officer was super friendly, and the whole office is extremely nice. It was a lovely experience afterall.

Good luck everyone, don't lose hope. Your approval will come at the perfect timing, believe in God.

Regards

Congrats and thanks for sharing your experience.

Visa approved :). thanks to all VJers and good luck to all future applicants!

first round with an Indian - she took my passport and sealed medical report and then asked: who is calling you there (spouse), have you completed fingerprints, when did you meet petitioner last time, why did i have a notarized affidavit to support my birth certificate (answer: because my name could not be included on birth certificate due to a government regulation that name cannot be included on the birth certificate if the certificate is requested after 15 years of birth). returned all my civil documents and took ds-260 confirmation copy and later gave the pamphlet about rights in the US and asked me to go through it later.

after that, waited for approx. 15 minutes when name was called out for the next round:

second round with an American - She asked which language would I like to be interviewed, then asked me to read out/take the oath. Then asked: who is calling you there, when did you get married, was it a love or arranged marriage, where did you go for your honeymoon, when did you meet petitioner last time, where does he work, with whom does he live there and then she said 'congrats, your visa is approved' dancin5hr.gif . She then handed the page with instructions to pay $165 and said we should pay it before I land in the US.

very pleasant experience at the consulate. both officers were extremely polite throughout.

called ustraveldocs customer care and they informed that when we go to pick up our visa at the pickup facility, we will be given a yellow sealed packet that should be taken unopened and submitted at the port of entry in the US

thanks to everyone at VJ once again and wish everyone a speedy (re-)union with your loved ones. good luck!

02.25.14 – Orig. Interview Sched. (OIS)
01.28.14 – The day I resched my OIS
01.30.14 – New Interview Sched.

I arrived at USEM at 5:20am, there's a long line already for 6:30am Immigrant visa interviewees. We were guided to enter at 6am. I presented to the USEM staff outside the building my passport and IL or appointment confirmation (AC). She put a sticker on my passport and put it on a ziplock. We entered their xray room, put all our things under the x-ray machine, make sure you are not bringing in electronic devices because you will be asked to go out and dispose the thing before you are allowed entry. Fall in line again on the open area which they call ticket booth, keep your passport, show them your IL or AC, and they will give you your number. When you have a number already, enter door 2, hand over your IL/AC to the staff standing after the metal detector thing. I was inside the waiting area at around 6:45am. From that time up to 10am, my number didnt even flash on the board board. I noticed that others are going home already. I have read some interview experiences and I noticed that those who resched themselves online really waited longer than those who follow their OIS. The USEm staff was kind enough to walk around and ask who among us have not gone even in Step 1 which is the fingerscanning. I told her that my number was not called even once. She wrote my number and surname on a piece of paper. I saw in her list, we are about 5 with the same situation. At 10:15am, 15 minutes after she got my number, my number flashed already for fingerscanning, which was quick, the man behind the window just asked for my name and DOB for verification. At 10:30am, my number flashed again, this time for the Filipina interviewer at window 48. She asked for my name, DOB, petitioner’s name, how did we meet, work of petitioner, when did he go to the US, where are our kids, I remember, she asked for the latest pic of me with petitioner and kids. Luckily, i brought with me our 2011 pic, she commented that "they are big already" (pertaining to our kids, who was 18 and 13 that time the pic was taken). She asked me to sit down. At 10:50am, I was already in window 65 infront of a beautiful American consul. She asked my name, DOB, place of birth, name of petitioner, when was our first date, when did he move to the US, how did he enter the US, where are our kids, when was the last time the petitioner was here, how many times he went back, who are our joint sponsors. No documents were asked and presented. She just told me that I will be seeing my family very soon, sit down and wait for the releasing. At 11:30am, my AC was given back to me at window 73 and was told to wait for my passport with visa at home.

Goodluck to everyone here, I hope all of us will reunite with our families soon! Thanks, this group is very helpful.
