Good morning to all the beutiful and helpful people on this website, First of all i want to thank you all for the information and expereinces posted on this website and may God bless you all. My name is Jorge I live in Honduras, Im married to a US citizen, her name is Bonney she love in New hampshire. we been dating since june 11 2009, as u can see its been a while , we got married in Honduras this past march 2013, we been both in finnacial trouble, things have been hard especially for her, we are starting to gather up the paperwork for the CR1 visa application, this things dont come easy to her, and we need all the help we can get, we cant afford a lawyer and we come to this website for some helpful advises, till now we have our marriage liscense here in honduras, I was wondering if i can fax the marriage liscense? or she needs the original document? also translation? can i translate it or it as to be done by some profesional? what other documents does she need mailed from here so she can file the petition, things are really hard on us, she needs me home so i can take care of her, we would really apreciatte any of your help and advises, God bless you all and thank you so much.

You can send a copy of the marriage certificate to start off with, but will need the original (or a certified copy) later.

You can translate it yourself if you are competent to do so.

For your and your spouses privacy and safety, I would recommend posting less personal details (no full names, exact town/ location etc.

Thanks, I would like to ask for your advise, we have our marriage certificate from honduras from the vital records office, I understand it needs to be translated and certified, which i did already, my concern is, its there something we need to do with the marriage certificate , like for example have it aunthenticated or apostille by a US authority i ask for legal advise just want to be sure but now here people just want to make money out of you and im afraid i might get rip off cause the lawyer told me i needed to authenticated but not by american authorities but by Honduran authorities and apostilled in order to work in the US ive read a bit and find nothing about it just sounds off so i would appreciate if u could help and if u cant do you think the USCIS would answer my interrogative? so my wife gives them a call thank you GOD bless you all keep on the work you guys are amazing

A photocopy of the marriage certificate along with the translation is all that is needed, you don't need it authenticated or apostilled.

Hi Jorge, my husband is from El Salvador and we had to translate a lot of things. Your question about if you can translate the things? well the answers is NO. I have been in that situation and my lawyer told us that I can not translate the documents. The good thing is that you don't have to pay a professional either. If you have a family member or friend that is bilingual they can do it. You only need a "certificate of translation" it is basically a paper that says: my name is ABC and I am fluent in English and Spanish and I translated JKF's birth certificate. You can find the certificate of translation in the DOJ website.

Hi Jorge,

I just got thru sending all the info for the i-130 and the first thing is to make sure you get the correct birth certificate.. is the ""Forma Literal" this is the rare one that is only text on special paper... my wife had to travel to were she was born to get it in that form.. is very important that all documents are in "Forma Literal".. including your marriage certificate. make sure everything is correct.. and that on your birth certificate shows you married.. that was the problem for my wife the normal everyday paperwork was correct but the official "Forma Literal" had many mistakes.. also right now there is a shortage of the special paper that the "Forma Literal" is printed on so make sure you go every day and bother them until they get the correct paper.. you can scan and email them to your wife.. however the G-325A needs to be signed by you and then you need to get the signed paperwork mailed to her.. the translations can be done there in Honduras or in the usa.. Since I did not know anyone to translate the paperwork I paid 25 dollars per page to have a professional translate the paperwork. you do not need a professional to translate the paperwork..immigration only requires people to be fluent to translate any document. I do not see a expiration date on the "Forma Literal" just make sure that whatever documents that you send are not expired.

one thing I would do since you have to mail her the signed G-325A I would collect all the original documents and send them with photocopy's.. the first part is the i-130 you send only photocopy's ... the second step after the NOA2 they will ask for originals that is when you send the original and also a set of photocopy's..
