i could not get her added on many things, after the first trip back to the USA, because she not have a SSN.

The Patriot Act was a f'ing mess for us.

Tempus Fugit, I got her an ITIN and we filed joint-taxes for 3 years ...

After some time, i got a dual-country power of attorney document made with a two year validity and then purchased rental homes in both our names... So the evidence presented with the I-130 was a bit more.. I hated not having her on banking stuff...

re: medical insurance - is a waste of time and money to attempt to get her added until she actually puts foot into the USA.

I added my fiance as a beneficiary for my life insurance and my bank account before we were even officially engaged, but to answer your question: YES. Add your fiance/e to as much as you can as soon as possible and then save every single statement or bill you get with both of your names on it. You will eventually have to show two years' worth of cohabitation; I've read threads from people who showed less than this and got an RFE when trying to remove conditions.

I agree about the Patriot act, it's BS and it bit me real good.Though we have joint account in Nigeria.

I added her to my medical at work as it was free.

I've added my Wife to all of my accounts, retirement account, etc I was able to save a bit of money by adding her to our car insurance as a non driver.

After returning to the US afetr the wedding ceremony, did everyone add their spouse to their bank accounts, retirement accounts, health and dental plans, taxes, etc. to provide further proof of a bona fide marriage on their I p-130?

Thanks!

Do it.

I don't understand what you mean by two years worth of documents. I just got married and will be adding her to these benefits, but by the time she gets her interview it will probably be only 9 or 10 months since we've been married :)

Oh, my mistake!!! I came here from the front page, not the forums, and I saw "K-1 visa" in the tags and thought this was what we were talking about. Sorry! (EDIT: Odd thing is, the second I posted this comment, three of the tags disappeared, and now it only says "Spouse visa" huh.png ).

Thanks!

The only proof of bonafide marriage we ever provided with our petition(s) was our marriage book and translated copy

As to adding a spouse it was possible to immediately add her to health insurance/etc but SS was required for everything else. Even though health plans eventually require a SS number most of them will enroll pending receipt of it

Health insurance info for her was not sent in with the I130 but it was attached to the Affidavit of Support package

i don't get it.

You guys are right, I can't add her to anything because everything requires a ssn.

I would pick a fight with the health/benefits plan. Marriage is a "qualifying event" and if you do not get her enrolled within the limited number of days from the "qualifying event" you will have to wait until next years enrollment. I had to pick a major fight and they finally added her pending a SS number.

Ditto. Well, without the fight. Husband's benefit system was confused without my SSN but a conversation with HR resolved it and I'm added without my SSN and will add it when we've moved. The systems are more flexible than they'll tell you.

Picking a fight = exaggeration. Basically I did the same thing LOL but I didn't let it go until they got her enrolled.
