Can i travel from other state?

Hello! I arrived in the US last thursday with an immigrant visa. I know that the actual green card will arrive within 30days from payment of USCIS immigrant fee.

So here's my question: my husband would like to take us in canada and some other states in the US. Can we travel even without the actual green card? i read in our passports that the visa will serve as temporary green card valid for 1 yr.

Please enlighten me and correct me if im wrong.

N-400 Timeline:

Applied online - 07/24/19 

Receipt notice - 07/24/19

Biometrics notice online - 07/26/19

Biometrics - 08/12/19

Interview notice - 11/22/19

Interview - 01/02/20

Oath Notice - 01/07/20

Oathtaking - 01/22/20 

Estimated Completion Time: May 2020 (10 months from date applied :clock:)

Hello no you cannot travel outside the USA until you've received your green card. The k1 visa is only good for 1 time use and that is to enter to the USA.dancin5hr.gif

The OP is not K1.

If the OP has entered on an immigrant visa, then yes, the entry stamp acts as a temporary 1 year GC and they are free to leave the country and travel etc.

Thanks for the replies. Yes i am NOT under k1 visa. We are under FX1 and FX3 visas. We got Immigrant visas already before entering the US.

Then you're good to go. I've not seen one to know exactly what it says or looks like, but it should say something about it serving as a temporary I-551 (which means temporary GC, basically) once endorsed (stamped).
