I can't comment on VA dates, but it took 2 weeks for me in NY.

I live in Upstate NY. I had my interview on May 29th and got the approval on June 10th and my oath ceremony is on August 7th! It is almost 2 months between the approval and the oath date! Well, I live in a small city. Probably there are two or three ceremonies a year here. I could have taken the oath earlier if my file was sent to a bigger city where they hold oath ceremonies more frequently. No complaints though! I'd much rather walk to the oath rather than drive for 4 or 5 hours. It feels a little bit disappoting to have to wait for 2 more months to become a proud citizen of the USA, but we have waited for years for this moment anyway! 2 months shouldnt be that much of a wait...

From people's timelines in different states, it seems that most people wait between 3 and 5 weeks to get to the oath ceremony. Lucky cases get same day oath or less than 3 weeks. But there are some cases that have to wait for 8 weeks or even more (like mine).

If you can't change your mind, are you sure you still have one?

I live in NY so i cant really answer your question, but i just want to note something. A friend of mine who lives in the same city where I live didnt go to the same oath location where im going. his case took 3 weeks between the approval and the oat day. he was sent to another city to take it. but it is gonna take me around 2 months to get to mine which is in the city where i live. I think this applies everywhere. USCIS gives u either the earliest date or the closest location depending on what's available.

If fairfax is a big city with lots of immigrants, the processing times might be predictable....i hope someone jumps in to answer ur question.

If you can't change your mind, are you sure you still have one?

Hi, Coolbro86
I don't know the answer that you need, but you may help me in my question with the interview.
I'm going to start the process in January 2014, and now I'm preparing all about the naturalization process and I'm studying US civics and government.
I want to know how is the interview? The interviewer just asks about your knowledge in civics, write and read? or you talk about other themes?
I don't speak very fluent, and some times when I'm nervous I feel that I do not talk with a structured phrases.cray5ol.gifheadbonk.gif
I apreciate your help.

Thank you guys for your help!!

Nana

When you get fingerprinted, ask for the free civics booklet there you will find all the possible questions they may ask you. Also in the last pages of the booklet they provide with the possible vocab words of either the sentence you will be writing or reading.

My interview was only 20 minutes, the officer will go over the application with you, and have you sign the application. Then he/she will give you a super easy sentence to read and then will read one to you to write. Out of the 10 questions you will need to answer 6 questions correcly so if you study you will be fine! Good luck to you
