Should I be worried?

Hi All,

Got my NOA2 for my K1 on April 24th, then my file disappeared. It was finally found today and is on it's way to the NVC. dancin5hr.gif

However, since it disappeared for almost two months, I'm concerned it may expire (Aug. 24th) before the interview happens.

I've looked at other China filer timelines, and it really varies how quickly the P3 documents are sent out.

Should I panic, and is there anything I can do to be sure the interview happens before I run out of time?ClockWatch2.gif

Thanks!

Rob

Relax. This is unfortunately common and will not affect your case. The petition will be extended as needed without effort by you.

Your file " disappeared " as many do simply because of the way they are handled at USCIS when complete. The last step by USCIS is to assign a bar code and then it is bundled with others to be forwarded. What should take minimum time sometimes takes as in your case and mine months.

Yours should now move through NVC fairly quickly but remember ALL cases pass thru there so they handle many per month.

do a search la .

advanced search tool.

search term 'SafeFile'

membername = 'Darnell'

then click on 'display as posts'

GUZ IV can/will use the SAFEFILE version of the casefile, at their discretion,

and in most cases, extends the validity listed in the NOA-2 to be whatever they want it to be, to make that first interview date.

You won't know about the validity duration extension, at all.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

A U S politician can not and will not " monitor " a case as you describe. If there is a serious problem with a case they may be able to obtain some info or have some impact on a case but in general they aren't able to do much.

Nice doesn't describe any U S politician that we tried to ask for assistance. In fact these are the same people we see that haven't done anything to reform the immigration laws for over 60 years. A recent pole indicated the people of the U S have the lowest opinion of the U S Senate and Congress in the history of the U S govt.

If a politician needs to be asked to assist it is done by using the form that can be found on their web site that is used to request help. This is sent to then but is actually acted upon by a staff member employed and trained to placate the sender.

I don't recommend this, at all,

because once a consular casefile number is assigned,

it's exceptionally easy to get things done with the ustraveldocs website.

No need to engage with a Congressman's ILS human - they have problems contacting the IV Units with the DoS.

Can get 'some' speed by using the ustraveldocs website, instead.

ya, in the meantime - chase down that consular casefile number with NVC

then register with ustraveldocs site

and tempus fugit for about 3 to 4 weeks, albeit checking daily on the ustraveldocs site, and make a payment when yer able.

tracked? sorta.

once the payment is recorded, she is eligible to set an appointment online.

once she's booked an appointment, she'll get the appointment letter.

with the appointment letter, she can attend a medical exam.

the old P3 shortcut in the wiki needs some refactoring, but really, what matters, is

1. visa fee paid and

2. interview appointment made

and that's it. the rest is childs' play, compared to 1 and 2.

back to tracking - the thing with tracking on a I-129F coming out of NVC into GUZ IV,

is really,

when the casefile is opened at GUZ IV.

I say, I posit, that doesn't matter any more, as it seems that one is able to pay soon, schedule soon, get appointment soonish and not wait on the physical casefile movement into GUZ IV.

Why is that? well, I alluded to SAFEFILE earlier in this topic, I invite you to do some searching with the advanced search tool.

IMO, GUZ IV has to keep the appointment when it's made, so it's on the IV unit to decide which version of the casefile to use (physical vs electronic)

I appreciate the info, but I'm a little confused now:

is the payment the new $165 fee?

and I was under the impression that the I-129's aren't done electronically yet, did something change?

My fiancee just paid the fee in person at the bank, and it shows the receipt number online. The only issue is that it is still showing "no appointments available" Although it was just yesterday
