i hate to be the bearer of bad news, but the statements are true -- the NYC office is incredibly slow. I seen some I130 Filers in March of this year in other offices, get approved WAY faster than the NY Office. Thankfully i didnt wait 7 months or so, it was only a 4 month wait. hopefully things work out for you!

the NY office is indeed very slow. we dont really have a choice but to wait....

We filed our petition on 5th Dec 2012, which got transferred to NYC field office somewhere around mid feb.. And we got our noa2 in mid April. So, it was around 4 and half months for us in NYC. My husband went for info pass twice. First one didn't help much. But for the second one, we got a nice lady who helped us in giving the info. And our case was approved within 2-3 days of info pass. So, we guess info pass worked for us.

wow thats pretty quick!

mind if i ask what u asked at the infopass and what info were they able to give u?

I asked them the following questions:

1) What is my case status?

2) What date was my case transferred to the local office?

3) Is anyone working on my case yet? if not, what date are they working on currently?

Sometimes the officers are hesitant to give this information, especially (2) and (3). I had to be persistent and had to ask the questions again and again but by rephrasing them. They would finally give me all this information.

When I asked them when do they expect my case to be processed and if there is a way to expedite it -they would ask me to fill out a yellow form which asks for reasons for why I want to know this information. They told me they will get back to me in few days. Now here your luck matters. First time the officer I met was not helpful and I am sure he just kept the form on the side and did nothing about it. The second time I think I was lucky and the lady I met actually went to the relevant department and checked my case status. I gave them a medical reason for why I wanted to know more info about my case as I needed to plan a surgery.

I have waited for almost 8 months now....My husband is from NYC. On uscis.gov website, still shows "On DEC 24th, we received this I130 IMMIGRANT PETITION FOR RELATIVE......." It didn't say anything about transfer to NYC feild office. So we are not sure my application is still in NBC or in NY feild office. We just feel like it takes forevercrying.gif

It really sucks that we have to wait so long. When I started my journey in January, I had hoped to get NOA2 by April 15 and be in the States in order to celebrate her birthday in August. Yesterday I wished her happy birthday on Skype. lol.

Guess you could think about it this way now. The longer you wait, the closer you are to getting approved!

Any day now. Hoping to hear good news from you.

Spoke to the Tier2 agent again today.

It's going to be 7 months for us on 29th of this month.

Put in a service request.

This time the Tier2 agent said our file was transferred to the NYC office on June 11!

Does the case start the 6-8 month timeline all over again after it is transferred? The last time we spoke to the Tier2 agent in June, she said your case transferred to NYC in March. cray5ol.gif

I'm fairly certain there's some confusion here.

It's just another NBC office to filter the petitions.

It isn't taking place of local offices.

If any thing like that were to happen, it would be posted here:
