New York City (feild office) i-130 Transfers

Hey guys,

I thought it would be a good idea to have a NY thread. I doubt there is much information or reviews on the NYC local field office in VJ..well i couldn't find much info myself.

So lets hear about your current or past experiences with the NYC local field office. How long your approval took etc.

NBC transferred my case to NYC local field office on March 22, 2013. Im still waiting for an answer. Going for an infopass very soon.

Our case was at the NYC local office. It took seven and a half months for it to get approved. My husband did an infopass after six months and they were very rude to him. He was even told he might have to wait another five to seven months (on top of those six months)... Luckily, it wasn't the case... Good luck to everyone

Seven and a half months for approval in ny field office??!!! OMG. I shoudnt expect anything until like september then. DAMN.

Don't lose hope. I know some people who were approved in four months at the NYC office. I really don't know what it depends on. I hope you get an approval soon

My NOA1 is 12/05/12 my case was transferred to NYC on 01/30/2013. I have gone to 2 INFO pass appointments where i was giving 0 information about my case just that i must wait because they have more then 5,000 apps, my next INFO pass is June 21. I recently found out that my case was assigned to a case worker on 05/06/2013 and the last time it was actually worked on was two weeks ago. I really don't know how much longer it will be. But i can tell you that my experience with the NYC field office has been extremely frustrating and stressful. I have also sub. 2 services request and have gotten on response which was of course what else but to wait. I called in today and spoke with a very rude tier 2 officer who refused to admit my case was even transferred and said that he is not required to give me any more information if he didn't want to. He said the only thing he can tell me is to wait for my service request to be answered on the 19 which of course will probably be to wait. These ###### ppl really piss me off

Just checked the volume chart for New York City (http://dashboard.uscis.gov/index.cfm?formtype=4&office=17&charttype=2). They are pretty backed up.

I really hope they approve your petition in a speedy manner though

Don't worry you may get approved sooner then you think. In reality they have no since of organization at that office. I have seen ppl on vj get approved at 4, 5 and 7 months. I really hope you are one of the lucky ones and i really pray and hope i get approved soon. But with this office we are all up in the air. I found out my case was actually being worked on because I actually got lucky with a Tier 2 CS Rep. that was very helpful and gave me all the information he had on his screen. They are very rude and treat us very badly as if we are criminals. Most of us just really want to be with our love ones as soon as possible. I hope this was Helpful, staying positive is key...

Oh so even though the case has been transferred to local office, USCIS tier 2 will know whats going with it? Interesting.
