We had our interview and got approved yesterday.

He just talked about sci-fi movies with my wife for most of the time (I'm not a big fan). Only documents he took were newer joint bank statements and copies of joint credit cards. We had previously submitted the marriage cert, joint lease and a joint bank statement. He didn't even look at the pics.

Thanks for the kind words, guys.

As I promised, I'm writing about our (pretty unusual) experience.

My interview was scheduled for August 30, but later canceled by uscis and rescheduled for September 30. Unfortunately (or fortunately), we already booked our hotel in DC (we live 2 hours away from there and we wanted to go to NYC after). So we decided to go either way, especially because I read scary stories about people not showing up for the interview and getting denied afterwards. However, I was nervous because the situation was very vague, so I made my husband call to uscis. They didn't know anything (of course) and they didn't give away the number for our DC office. So... we found it on YELP :) We explained to the guy on the phone about our situation with the hotel, he wrote done my a# and application number. In 20 minutes we got a call from another guy (I think it was our uscis officer) who said that they will conduct interview on August 30!

The rest was very easy. We were interviewed on time, the building was almost empty. The interview lasted around 20 min, he asked standard questions, plus about my school (I came on a student visa and am in a PhD program here). He didn't tell us about his decision right away, but I got a text from uscis 15-20 min after the interview.

I'm still not sure about what happened with this cancellation thing, but I'm very happy with the way things turned out. Good luck all!
