More information please? What is a checklist? and what's fastest approval from nvc that you've seen?... so I can get my hopes up! Thanks bos for everything in helping :)

What are the steps that happen now? The procedure?

A couple of bookmarks to add along with the CEAC site above :)

NVC wiki: http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/NVC_Process

NVC processing times spreadsheet: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AtbvTEwLyHz1dDhjM3lXTEl1cW1SbjRwdW9YRGlIanc&hl=en#gid=0

The wiki is a step-by-step guide through the NVC process. It's a lot of information, but take it one step at a time (which is how it comes anyway!) and it's much more manageable. VJ member Saylin creates a new NVC thread every month, and everyone currently in process at NVC rolls into each new thread to share progress, questions, etc. Saylin also maintains a spreadsheet of case information to help members estimate processing times through NVC, and it has shortest, longest, and average duration right at the top. Average is 51 days from when you receive your case number to receiving case complete -- so that doesn't include the time between NOA2 and case number, or the time between case complete and having the interview.

A checklist is the NVC version of an RFE, where something is incorrect or incomplete. Just like with an RFE, if you get a checklist you have to submit additional information and wait for them to review again, so it can set you back by several weeks. You have some time between NOA2 and being able to actually do anything at NVC, so read the wiki through a few times and use this break in the action to prepare your documents :)

Our case was shipped to NVC today.

I hope all June filers are done with their I-130s by April 1st!!

Yay, congrats! Wishing you a speedy NVC process :)

Why don't you open a SR? Or have you?

My husband put In an expedite request instead of SR. So now I guess we would have to wait 30 days before we can do anything else. I m praying I dont have to wait that long and they approve the case even if they don't thnk expedite reason is strong. Since we really are outside processing times and expedite or no expedite we should be approved now!

His mom is not well. She recently got osteoarthritis so really having trouble walking and all and needs some help. I know it's not a strong reason at all since they only approve for deadly diseases if that even. But that was all we could come up with :( it shudnt have even come up to the point of putting an expedite request after 9.5 months. I hate uscis!

Hi all June filers,

Well, we finally got approved on March 25th! So excited to be moving on, and I sincerely hope that all still waiting here will get their approvals soon.

FYI, USCIS has updated their processing time estimate for the I-130 spouse application to 5 months...this means that everyone beyond 5 months is beyond normal processing times, and they have to put in a Service Request for you because you are beyond the normal processing time. If you haven't put in an SR, definitely call USCIS and do so.

When I called on Tuesday, I got transferred to a Tier 2 Agent, and first he said that he could not do a Service Request for us, because we had applied with a foreign address (I am living with my wife in Malaysia), and that we had to send an email message to Nebraska Service Center to get case updates. This is ridiculous, and after arguing back and forth with him for 20 minutes, I called our lawyer. The lawyer said that this is totally untrue, they do service request for applications with foreign addresses all the time.

Meanwhile, while we were talking, we received the email approval from USCIS! So obviously, our case was probably buried in a pile somewhere, and by prodding them enough, they found it and approved it. It goes to show, you can't trust anything they say at USCIS - just be persistent, and don't take no for an answer!

Best of luck to all of us as we get through the rest of this process...

We got approved! This was super quick, I was expecting to wait at least 2-3 weeks for our RFE to be looked at! Woohoo! smile.png

Congrats Ivy! We got approved this week too...what a relief after all these months we have been on this forum. :-) See you at the NVC stage!
