My oath is tomorrow, I'll be applying for same day service on Monday, so I'll have my US passport in hand the same day I apply for it.

Yes, here in Los Angeles, we have same day service for $195. I don't think it's offered everywhere, but, you can check, if it's offered where you live.

Thanks I checked in Boston where I live and it looks like we have similar service as well. One can apply through it if you need passport in less than 2 weeks. But they say you have to prove you need to travel soon or need visa for which you need this. I badly want to visit home but would I really need to buy tickets to prove I am traveling? How else can I prove I am traveling?

Also my citizenship interview is on 4th Dec, is it possible I can take oath in it? My wife is out of the country, I have filed for her I-130 and I would like to visit her soon.

Hi. My situation was such that we actually live in Delaware but since we dont have an Interview office, I had my interview in Philly. They offered an oath 3 days later but since hubby & I were leaving for vacation on said day, I had to decline . Well then since DE is soooo small, I literally had to wait until they had 50+ people for the oath to be scheduled

They took mine too and also stapled it! This is such an important document to have two holes now!

I don't have any plans to travel soon, that's why I applied for routine service.

"When applying for a U.S. passport in person, evidence of U.S. citizenship must be submitted with Form DS-11. All documentation submitted as citizenship evidence will be returned to you. These documents will be delivered with your newly issued U.S. passport or in a separate mailing."

I get that but did ya have to staple it; now Im dreading rips and tears lol

"Bring a photocopy of the front and back of each ID document that you will present when you apply."

Hi all, just wanted to give you an update on our situation. My Husband had his Oath Ceremony at Faneuil Hall in Boston on Thursday and is was an emotional and moving end to the process. The USCIS officers and Judge were extremely kind and caring. Just sad that we all couldn't be together as a family. I still hadn't heard about Oath Dates for myself and my two sons, so I hounded one poor USCIS officer at the ceremony who took us back to the USCIS offices after the ceremony and managed to schedule them for us, there and then. SO : December 5th again at Faneuil Hall Boston. Very very excited, especially as my son is studying abroad starting in January!!!

Thanks to one very patient and kind USCIS officer.

Yes, they do ask for proof of flight, at least here, it's required to show proof of your flight. Either a hard copy, or email confirmation. I don't know, does Boston have same day oath ceremonies? I'm like the worst person to ask for immigration advice lol sorry! If you're going to visit home anyways, you'll need a ticket, so just go ahead purchase the ticket and then apply for your passport. If they don't do same day oath, I would wait until you're scheduled for oath, so you know when it is, and then buy your ticket. I don't know how it works there, but here, you come in before 1pm, and pick up your passport the same day 3pm at will call.

Oath was fine, it was just... meh. I wasn't all emotional or hyped about becoming a US citizen, like other people. I also have a bad cold, so I feel like #######. I literally sat down and wished for it to be super short and simple, and it was. So happy it's over and done with now, though. Good luck with your clinical! I am traveling out of the country on Wednesday, picking my passport up on Monday. I don't think they keep the certificate for same day service, and I sure hope they don't staple it!

I don't know how it works there, but here, you come in before 1pm, and pick up your passport the same day 3pm at will call.

Here you are suppose to book an appointment where you can arrive only 15 mins earlier not sooner. I takes a day or maybe 2 to take this appointment. Than sometime you can take passport by 4:30 and other time they tell you to come next day or in couple of days. i don't know if this maybe the same service?
