EAC Question

I recently received my EAC Employment Authorization Card.

1. First question.. my Social Security Card says great big no for employment on it.. Now that I have an EAC card can I go back and get a normal Social Secutiry card?

2. What is the difference between an EAC and a Greencard?

3. What is the next step after I receive my greencard?

1. No, it will stay with the wording with the EAD.

2. An EAC/EAD is a temporary authorization to work in the US. A Greencard means you are a Legal Permanent Resident. Totally different things. They look different too.

3. The next step after you get your Greencard is Removal of Conditions (form I-751).

If you entered with a K-1 your SS card should be marked that you cannot work without DHS authorization, which would be the EAD. It should not be marked that you cannot work at all. If it states not valid for employment, then yes, take your EAD to the SSA and have them fix it to read that you can work with authorization.

When you get the green card you can go to the SS office and get a new SS card without the words on it.
