Hi All

So I entered the US recently with my K1 Visa, at the desk in the airport where I handed in the big envelope of information and my passport and I94, the lady took everything and processed it. However I did not get the paper I94 back, I asked about this and was told they now use an electronic I94. I thought nothing of it until I want to get my SSN yesterday. The lady at the SSN office had not heard of an electronic I94. After much trouble we found a website which shows a scan of you i94. However she processed my SSN without the I94 and used the admission number on the stamp in my passport.

Hope this helps.

I came in yesterday and had the same conversation with the guy at POE ... was slightly concerned! Thanks for the heads up biggrin.png

Better to print your I94 out prior to going to social security: www.cbp.gov/I94

Great link ... I hope they'll accept when I go to apply for my SSN

Hi all,

I entered the US on May 30 on an IR-1. Unfortunately, the CBP at the POE told me nothing about this and I have just been to the SSN office, where I was told about this link. I have just entered in all of my information on this site however it says that my I-94 admission number cannot be found. I am so worried and have no idea what to do. Any help would be much appreciated, thanks.

IR-1 visa holders don't get an I-94.

However, getting a SSN holding a IR-1 visa IS time-specific - see

Your GC and SSN SHOULD arrive in about 30 days. If not, you will need to go to the SSA office and apply for one. You are a LPR not a non-immigrant or tourist which the I-94 applies to. Follow the links supplied by Darnell nowish.

Hi guys, thanks for all of your answers. My SSN arrived yesterday (phew!) after six and a bit weeks. Still waiting on the GC, and I called USCIS to ask about why I have not yet received mine and they said they will look into this and will write to me by the end of the month to let me know what's going on. I hoped that I would receive my GC sooner, as I paid my immigrant visa fee of $165 the day I received my passport with my IV and package from the embassy but hey at least my husband and I are reunited.
