Are Pictures Enough ?

Hi V’jers

I met my fiancé during my 1 year stay in Ghana. Our relationship began during my first week there and during my last few weeks there we got engaged. Will I have to provide proof of the ongoing relationship while in Ghana or just in America? The only proof I really have are pictures. He didn't live far from me and when we saw each other we stayed at our own residences. I called the phone companies in Ghana and they said they could only provide phone records if there is some sort of legal adjudication. Thanks in advanced for your help.

PICS IS GOOD, YOU STILL NEED MORE TO PROVE DAT THE RELATIONSHIP IS NOT FAKE. HOPE YOU GUYS TALKS THROUGH TEXT, EMAIL OR VOICE. BOTH OF YOU CAN GET PHONE BILLS SHOWING YOUR PHONE NUMBERS WITH TIME AND DATES ON THEM, PRINT OUT ANY EMAIL OR WHATAPP AND ETC. THE PICS DOESN'T `T MATTER WHERE YOU TOOK IT IN GHANA OR IN AMERICA HERE

Pictures are good. But they are not the only proofs you'll need. You can include proof of your travel there... The stamps on your passport. And if you took some trips together while in Ghana include proofs that have both of your name. One thing I would suggest is since you are in the US right now, you can wait 1-2 months before sending your petition so that you can create more proofs...

Such as:

Emails, chats (skype, whatsapp, etc), phone calls, mail, and anything else you can think of that will help prove your case.

While it may seem waiting is too long, making sure that you send a complete package is better than sending something that may require an RFE or get denied... Good luck!

It would also helpful to get notarized affidavit from whomever is aware of the relationship, cards and letters are also good. Also bank accounts you have together, property owned together, hotel bills, anything that shows that you have an ongoing relationship and planned to build a life together.

It's only Ghana I'm worried about. I had no intention of being engaged so I didn't think to save anything. I've been home for almost a year and I'm ready to submit my petition. I do have copies of frequent flyer miles, return ticket, passport stamps, temporary resident stamp, in addition to the pictures i mentioned all from Ghana.

You might want to check with others, I have read that some people have said that money transfers can cause problems. You might want to leave those out, they say they can cause more harm than good with Ghana. Good Luck.

This is a high fraud country; I would think photos are not enough.

They list the best manner and types of required evidence. Have as many of the different types of evidence as possible, particularly in a high-fraud country.

With one caveat it may be safer to leave the money transfer records out, although this seems to be an issue when the beneficiary is sending money to the petitioner not the other way around. Good luck with everything!

Thanks! I never thought about it being a problem because the money went to purchasing items that I plan to sell here in the U.S. in an online shop. I'll be sure to leave that out!

Agree with above, look at the guides both in VJ and USCIS, due to a high fraud country you better get all your ducks in a row. Find a tread on someone similar and see what they did to overcome thier issues. It is time for your own research.
