Update Application Before RFE?

 Share

I sent in my application packet April 2nd to the Dallas lockbock and got the NOA1 April 8 from the CSC.

Based on a couple of threads on here regarding the personal conviction question, I took a look at my application photocopy and realized I failed to mark the box that says "NO" for this question (they really need to fix this and make the boxes for this question more clear).

Is there a way I can get submit the answer to this question now to the CSC without having to wait for an RFE on this? If so, how do I go about doing this?

No.

You will need to wait for the RFE.

Hypnos, says no but I have seen a lot of cases here where people remember something and send it with a copy of the noa1 and they link it. I am not sure if it would delay your process but then again so would a RFE. Its up to you really. Good luck.

Where would I send it to? The same Dallas lockbock, or is there an address for CSC to send it to?

They would send it to the same adress the app was sent to. I would call them to make sure. Dont forget to write a letter explaining it.

I also say, it can't hurt to try sending it with a letter of explanation! I know when I've been checking WAC numbers, I found one interesting I-129F petition that says "We received your correspondence and it has been added to your file" -- with a date 3 months after initial filing. It is a different wording from the RFE response statuses I've seen, so obviously SOMEONE sent in additional information (before any RFE) and got it added to their case -- which is still in initial review at this point, along with all the rest of the WAC numbers near me.

Of course there is no guarantee that they will get it and treat it correctly, but I can't see any reason not to try, and possibly save yourself from an RFE!

I would try calling to see what they recommend, but if all else fails, simply send it to the Dallas lockbox WITH a cover letter and a copy of your NOA1 attached. Just my suggestion, no idea if it will work though!

It has the potential to cause problems, with them getting confused by sending them new information without enclosing an RFE, too.

I personally would wait for the RFE, it's much cleaner that way. I remember reading some old posts here a while ago and one guy ended up with two different applications floating around, it caused him major issues.

I won't resend the entire application, just the signed third page, which contains that missed question, plus a letter explaining and a copy of the NOA1. So maybe that would help avoid the confusion.

Hi,

I am one of the filers who noticed that we forgot several documents to our original application like a month later. My fiance actually forgot almost half of the documents (i was so pissed at him, he didn't read the instructions carefully, good thing i joined VJ and noticed some people were talking about things i didn't even know)

So he called USCIS and they gave him instructions on how to send additional documents to your petition, i think they give you the address of your service center directly. Make sure you include a cover letter.

However, unlike Lynkali says i haven't had any updtate on it on my account. No notification or mail. So i was highly dubious on the fact it was going to work especially from what i had read here on VJ. So i expected a RFE this whole time and i was so pleasantly surprised when i saw we got a NOA2 (approval) instead. So yea if you are at CSC they WILL match it with your file , i talked to someone else who had the same thing happening, i am not sure it will work with VSC though as i don't know how they work with that. I don't think it delayed my petition (i mean besides the fact that the whole csc stopped working on I129f for months). I don't think it is THAT complicating and confusing for them and it is not very time consuming either.

I saved myself a couple extra weeks of waiting with that.

So it is worth trying

Thank you loladolly for this very encouraging reply. Yes, I did call the CSC on Monday and the agent said the same thing you wrote, and I sent it in. Hopefully this proactiveness will prevent an RFE on my part as well.

Okay, update on this. I got a letter back from USCIS confirming receipt of my signed amended page and thanking me for it. But get this - the page I had sent, along with the letter I sent with it and even the envelope I used was included with this letter. With no explanation as to why they returned it to me? Bizarre. So I called them and the agent thought it was bizarre too, and suggested I return it with a letter asking for the attention of the supervisor. Which I did, so now we will see what happens.

Sigh...

Sorry I'm late replying to this. I had also forgot to send a critical document with my petition. I called customer service and they gave me the address of CSC and provided me with the actual floor and room which I was to include in the address. I did so and sent my documents FEDEX. Other than knowing CSC received the documents there was no other confirmation that the additional documents were matched to my original file. My petition was approved without a RFE
