Hello, my husband, who came here on a K1, and I recently had our interview for permanent resident. In the interview the agent pointed out that in the medical exam he had in Mexico the vaccines page was signed but the box was not checked that all history of vaccinations was complete on the "Vaccination Docementation Worksheet." The agendt then requested that he go to a surgeon general and have form I-693 filled out. However, when he went to inquire at the doctor's office they said he needed the whole exam done again because the form is for the whole exam. What do we do? This was the original doctor's fault for simply not checking the box and now the doctor here is saying we need to pay for a whole other exam.

Thanks!

Not a K-1 process or procedure. Moved to adjustment of status forums.

The doctors in the USA are not regulated. They make you pay whatever they want and force people to do the entire medical when it is not needed. Find another doctor who will do the vaccination portion.

Yeah, keep looking in your area for a DIFFERENT civil surgeon. Call the offices before you go in and ask them how much they charge for the vaccine page. It should not be more than $40-80 for them to fill it out (plus the cost for any vaccines you may need). You can show them the place in the instructions for the I-485 where it says you only need the vaccine page.

There are some civil surgeons who are very experienced in this and will know exactly what you are talking about. Stay away from the others who want to charge you for the whole exam. I know I saw a list somewhere online that had names/phone numbers by region...

It will be a challenge, I called everyone of the doctors on the list, and I called the same doctors that people posted on VJ, and they ALL told me that regardless of whether you get the entire medical completed or just the vaccination section, it is the same price. Now the prices varied from 100 - 350 where I live.

I don't know if you've resolved this yet, but here is the list I used:

We used Dr. Gomez in his San Jose, CA office. It really is hit or miss, though, since he actually has offices in Modesto and (I think) San Francisco, but they didn't know about the vaccine only thing.
