I am so mad at myself right now- I just got a court date for speeding. What is up with that! In NC, I guess if you are over a certian amt you get a court date...... :crying:

SO the cop says to get a attorney- and show up in court and plead a case to get it reduced. Worst case senario a loss of your licence....this sucks so bad, any advice?Meliss...p.s. crying does NOT work cause I was and he did not give a s_ _t.

oh it happened to a friend last week! instead of getting a ticket she got a court order.. i think its because there are brackets of speeding.. like if u were speeding 10 miles or 20 miles up.. but she got the same thing and was like #######..

Equal treatment... I like it.

I'm surprised that "defensive driving" classes weren't offered as an option. I remember when I was caught speeding, I had that choice. Granted, I was two miles over the speed limit, not 20...

Alright- last post promise. Hubbie called he knows a good lawyer who can get it down to 5 over( and you are allowed 1 of these a year?) and he'll do this for just the cost of the court fees. No insurance increase and no points on the licence-sweet, at least I can stop crying now. ANd he did'nt even yell at me. I'm just gonna go to bed now and hope nothing else happens. is it a full moon tonight or something?

it should be noted that radar detectors work when the radar is on - if the cop is blinking it - turning it on to get a speed, and then off again....it won't give you any warning at all if there are not many vehicles. i've known a few people who's radar detector worked just great. it went off as the cop was zapping them.

good rule of thumb - avoid driving more than 5 mph over, and better yet learn what the general "gimme" is by the local and state law enforcement. here it's usually 10 mph and over gets you a ticket.
