Well, this seems complicated...

We're moving down the street (change of address) 2 days before we're supposed to file for ROC.

I know I'll need to send that change of address form to USCIS...but I'm worried about things meshing when the forms get to USCIS. I've read some bad stories about this sort of thing in the forums here.

Any advice? BTW, postponing the move isn't in the cards either.

Postpone filing ROC, you can file it anytime after the 90 days start. It does not have to be the exact first day. After you move, file ROC with your new address on the forms.

Your I-129f was approved in 5 days from your NOA1 date.

Your interview took 67 days from your I-129F NOA1 date.

AOS was approved in 2 months and 8 days without interview.

ROC was approved in 3 months and 2 days without interview.

Ditto. Just expect an RFE as a possibility. Nothing to worry about, but several people who moved right before filing ROC got RFEs because USCIS wanted to make sure that they kept living with their spouse if filing jointly, so they requested joint documents showing the new address etc. Just a heads up but nothing to worry about. Just be prepared for the possibility.

Thank you Inky...yeah, that's what I thought, just wanted to make sure there were no gotchas.

BTW, I still send an AR-11 before I send in the I-751 with the new address, correct?

And thanks for the warning about the possible RFE Christi. I'll try not to freak out if I get one, since I'm half expecting it now.

I would still send the AR 11 yes. Its likely they will STILL mail it to the old address anyways too lol.

Don't forget your spouse needs to file I-865 with the new address - they will send a receipt of address change in the mail, they don't do that with AR-11.

My husband did that when we moved. They never sent such a receipt. Unless it takes them months. This was nearly 3 months ago. They did send me a reminder of my I-751 filing requirement to our OLD address, though, about 2 weeks after I submitted AR-11

Like the other posters mentioned, you can wait until you move to file ROC.

If you want to file it now, just make sure you do the online change of address and get mail forwarding once you move. To be extra safe, you can always go see the new people who will live at your address and give them 3-4 self addressed stamped envelopes and ask them to forward anything from USCIS that goes to them by error. You should be all set!

I am the US citizen, my wife is the applicant.

Adjusting from J1 Trainee visa:

August 25th, 2010: Filed AOS package to USCIS

August 27th, 2010: Package received by USCIS

September 2nd, 2010: Received I797 for I-130, I-485, I-765

October 14th, 2010: Received biometrics appointment letter (will be on Nov 5th)

AOS interview will be on January 13th, 2011!

January 13th, 2011: Approved at the day of the interview

Next step, removal of conditions

Good advice...I'll hold off a few weeks after we move to give the AR-11 and I-865 a chance to work thru the system.

Hopefully, the USPS will be able to forward our mail properly...they've done a good job in the past for me...I'm staying within the same zip-code, so maybe that strain them too much :D
