Hello, I am new to the site, I am somehow confused on the NVC process and would like to get some guidance.

A little background: we submitted the I-130 (I am the USC petitioning my wife) on July 16/26/2012 to VSC. Application got approved 03/25/2013. Called NVC 4/11/2012 regarding the status of the case and provided them with the Email addresses of my wife and myself.

Yesterday I got an email (my wife got one too) that contained the invoice for the AOS and the Choice of Agent Form.

I am a little lost as to how to submit the Choice of Agent, our consulate is BOGOTA, Colombia which is not in their list of consulates/embassies on the paperless program. Is there any way to send the choice of agent (or any of the paperwork i will be submitting to NVC (AOS etc))through an electronic medium (email)? or is the only way through postal service?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thank You

There's an email format that everyone here uses. Go to the NVC thread here and thoroughly read the first two posts.

Your wife should print the Choice of Agent form, complete it then scan and email directly to NVC.

All other paper work should be mailed to them using any courier of your choice (Fedex/USPS/UPS)

To speed up things do not wait for the email (you wont receive that email) to submit the Affidavit of Support (AOS). You can make the payment online and print the cover page from the payment page and mail it right away.

Also you should go ahead now and start completing the DS-230 and put all the required civil documents together such as marriage certificate, police report, birth certificate etc all originals. Once you receive the bill to pay $230 IV application fee then you should everything ready to mail.

Not sure if your email referred this webpage: www.immigrantvisas.state.gov all the information for the next steps are listed there.

Hope you find this information helpful :):star:

Is this true that you can scan and email?

Yes it is true... I was advised by a customer Service rep at NVC and I did exactly that with no problems and seven days later I got an email that it is accepted. I did also ask if I could email the AOS and she said no since Kingston does not participate in the online processing.

If you use the email format, some people scan the paper also and send it as an attachment. It's not super vital - most people just send the format, and have no problems.

NVC sent me a copy of the choice of agent as an attachment on the top of the page it has a barcode and my case number exactly below. I believe the barcode and case number is important for processing so thats why I scan and email and it works for me no problems whatsoever.

I never said it didn't. Merely stated that many don't scan the sheet, and still get the CoA approved without problems. good.gif Some people don't want to waste time waiting for NVC to get around to send them that email, and send the CoA email format as soon as their numbers are assigned, so as to get it out and approved ASAP.

I believe the barcode and case number is important for processing .

For the benefit of others who may be reading this thread, the barcode on the DS-3032 is unimportant.
