Can a US Citizen / LPR Attend An Interview with the Applicant(s)?

My husband (USC), I (LPR), and baby daughter (USC) are planning to visit my family in Egypt in June. We suggested that my mother and brothers apply for tourist visas so they can hopefully visit later this year / next year. Is it possible that they request the interview to be scheduled in June? Will we be able to attend the interview with them?

I do not believe that family may attend a tourist visa interview but someone with consulate specific answers will be able to help you.

However, having a USC family and LPR child will certainly work against them. That is considered a 'tie' to the US, regardless if that is the reason to visit the US. They should have strong ties to Egypt

good luck

As a USC it is very difficult for me to get into the Almaty Consulate--so chances of attending their interview are slim and as stated above it might actually hurt their chances of obtaining a tourist visa. They apply for a tourist visa on their own and must show stronger ties to Egypt than the US given that they have family in the US now. All tourist applicants are considered to be intending immigrants and have to PROVE that they will return to their home country. If they are refused, they are out the tourist visa fee. If they have travelled to other countries in the past that will help them. You know they will return but the CO does not and uses past experiences at that Consulate/Embassy as a guide.

Good luck,

Dave

I am not sure about Egypt but my MIL is from Ukraine and I (USC) attended her interview and the interviewer actually spent more time talking to me than her. She was approved on the spot.
