Hello, I am becoming slightly worried as I posted my DS-230 on 31/07/2012 and have not heard anything since. From your experience is this 'normal' or could something have gone wrong. If so, what should my next steps be?

I can confirm that my DS-230 was sent recorded delivery and was signed for upon arrival.

Thanks for your time.

Um, wow blink.gif Have you not called NVC at all during this time? The AOS and IV packages only take about 1-2 weeks to be reviewed.

Did you give over both email addresses when your case number was assigned?

Call NVC right now. Ask them for a status on your case. Report back what they say.

Well your timeline doesn't help. I assume you got a case# and paid the fee. When did you send in DS-3032 and what about your AOS (Affidavit of Support) package.

When you say you posted DS-230 what do you mean. The DS-230 is more than just the form. Looks like alot got forgotten. Please fill us in.Thanks

Thanks for your reply. After submitting the I-130 we received a letter containing a link to instructions for our next steps. This included submitting the DS-230, notification of readiness and booking a medical, which I attended a week or so later.

It would appear that each country does it slightly differently. According to the letter we are expected to bring most of the forms you mentioned to our interview, rather than send them in advance. Also, the website states that you should only contact them if there are changes to your situation. So I'm not sure how productive it would be to call them regarding the progress of my application.

Sorry to sound brusque, but when people do the NVC process the correct way, they're calling at least once a week since it's the only way to get information. If you submitted the DS230 in July, you should have had the interview and visa by August, maybe September max. Unless you call, they might be waiting for a response to a checklist or some other piece of information, and after a year of waiting they're going to close your case and send it back to USCIS. CALL THEM.

This is so confusing I don't know where you filed what link you got to what. Did you by chance file directly with embassy. Meaning you took your I-130 directly to them? Or did you send in to the Chicago lockbox?

Where did you pay the IV Bill (DS-230 package) at? Should be online.

You did not mention your AOS package or fee what's up with that? You are almost a year later and nothing you need to be filling in the holes and making calls. Immigration does not chase you down.

Hope you get your answers.

Did you apply directly through London or did you send the initial I-130 to the USA? I agree with dwheels. You need to call the NVC and find out what is up or contact the embassy and find out what is up, depending on how you applied originally. Maybe update your timeline as well. At this rate you will need another medical as it's probably been over 6 months since your last one.

These are the instructions you got, right? http://london.usembassy.gov/ds2001.html

After you booked and attended the medical, and you sent back the forms they request in part 1, including the date of medical, you should have heard from them no more than 2-3 months later at the worst. I don't know why you haven't called them sooner. They may have even sent you an interview letter that you didn't receive (lost in the post, maybe). It's not normal to be waiting 8 months.

You should contact them at your earliest opportunity. I saw a thread yesterday with some poor soul receiving a notice that their petition had expired because they had not applied for their visa within the 1 year of receiving their NOA2, and June is not all that far away.

Definitely call the NVC and just ask them what the status of your case is. They'll ask for your case number, beneficiary name and petitioner (your) name, then they'll tell you what all they've received - or not. We had a similar thing happen. 2 1/2 months after the DS-230 was sent in, we still hadn't heard anything, so I called the NVC - the agent told me their records showed that they were still waiting for us to submit it. Even though I knew it had been delivered and signed for, somehow it never found it's way into the system. We ended up re-submitting, our case was complete within 14 days of them receiving it the second time around, and we got a notification of interview date about 4 weeks after that. It pays to follow up with a call to the NVC!

ETA: also make sure you give them your email addresses when you call. That way you don't have to worry about missing any important correspondence (like notification of completion, or interview letter) by snail mail.
