Well... after months of being so sure they were gonna help us, they decided not to because they think there are too many what ifs... :(

This is a great set back to us!!! Now my husband will have to go back to the states and find a job and hope he can make enough to meet the income requirements ( we are eight members in the household, including his three kids from his previous marriage)

As we do not have any other option for sponsorship, this is not looking good to us.

I just wish they would had told us no since the beggining. My husband could have stayed in the states if they had and found a job. He decided to come down here and take some time off due to injuries he had at his previous job, but i guess that just harmed us in the long way in this process.

With a household of eight (I know the sponsor isn't sponsoring eight.) it's hard to blame them. There ARE a lot of "what if's". You know the solution though. He comes back and gets a job that makes enough money to qualify. He was going to need to do that anyway. This is just a change in timing. One other consideration that comes to mind though is that in the off chance he is behind in his child support, his passport will probably be suspended when he comes back. If that happens you won't see him again until you have your visa and use it. If this is not a concern, please disregard my mention of it.

Well, we understand its hard to blame them but they could have told us before so we would have taken other measures. But that is in the past now.

As far as child support, he has been paying it punctually from his savings account. We had enough to cover it.

He is coming back to the States next week, he has a job offer already so we hope this delay will not be that much!

Thanks

If the new job provides enough income and he still has some savings, the delay should be short.

Do you know how long would he have to be working for the letter of employment be acceptable?

Once he has a pay stub, he has verification of employment and current income. Perhaps he also has an offer letter. Most jobs with enough income for a family of eight are going to have an offer letter. If this is a career position and he has a good employment and income history, even one pay stub may be enough to do the trick. The real answer is going to depend on the totality of circumstances considered by the Consular Officer.

It depends on the US embassy you are going through and the type of employer (ie a stable permanent job in a big national company vs a friend of a friend giving him a job). He can submit immediately, ideally you;d bring a few paystubs with you to interview.
