*** Moving from US Citizenship to CR-1 visa forum ****

Covering is no problem, ladies from many different religions do it. Pay careful attention to the passport photo requirements though.

My opinion is it shows a very controlling muslim who is pushing her to act muslim. I know the cos look for signs that the man is manipulating the woman or iff the woman is being too submissive and not being free to act like a normal christian. None of my christian middle east friends cover. I never seen a hijab in church

HI There......no I don't believe that would be a reason for AP. I am christian....my husband is Muslim. Out of respect for my husband while in Egypt, I covered as well, and we showed many pictures to the consulate. It did not cause a problem for us. We did get AP, but it is pretty much standard in Egypt right now...at least from my experience. :) Hope that helps!

I covered my hair once when I was in Egypt. I did it not for my husband but to see what his sisters and family felt like wearing one in all that heat. All I can say is God bless them! I wore it a few hours and took it off, whew! Not for me! My hair is too thick, curly and unruly to be covered so it never would work for my own personal comfort. For certain reasons i must state I WAS NEVER PRESSURED TO DO IT, NOT EVEN ONCE! I know many women wear them to try to blend in more to the society in hopes of blending in more. I met a Norwegian woman in Cairo studying Arabic and she wore one so to blend in better. She had no husband/man. I think the embassy workers won't hold it against you all. Best wishes to you and Rena! She is a real doll!

*** Let's get back on topic of the OP please. If you wish to discuss whether veiling/covering is modest or draws more attention, is done for the woman or her husband etc, you can do so in Off Topic or P/R. *****

Ayman I love you ...I wear the hijab not because I am forced to wear it but is out of respect of his family religion and alot of times I didn't wear it. Was my choice I wear a bandana in America that covers my hair so it wasn't something out of normal for me. I think it's not a big deal there was even one church my daughter was going to a few years ago the women and girls covered there hair. Thanks everyone for the reply's

I dont think covering your hair would result in getting an AP. My husband took screenshots of us skyping and my hair was covered (I wear hijab) and we were approved with no AP.

Are you Muslim?

I think it is normal for Muslims to cover their hair.

I wear more clothes now out of respect for my husband-covering chest

I answered like a suspicious CO. If a Christian covers...why? And I researched enough to know what the COs are looking for. Also I think it matters if the woman is alot older and she covers.

Good luck Rina and Ayman. I believe you will be approved quickly.

So you covered while in Egypt to "respect your husband". Is he gonna return the favor somehow when he arrives in America? Some of you guys amaze me. Just sayin'

I cover myself even when not in Egypt I am from a strong Sicilian family which my father never let me go out showing any skin so for me it's normal I also wear a bandana alot so wearing the hi jab wasn't out of normal for me.Just saying
