Vermont vs. California

I am currently a PhD student in Michigan but I also own a business in Florida. Therefore, I can honestly put my address as either Michigan or Florida which is two different processing centers.

It appears that California is processing I-129F applications super slow, some blame it on the Dream Act. The reason is not relevant to this question.

Would it be better to put my Florida address so that I am processed in Vermont or put my Michigan address so that I am processed in California?

It would be hard to predict which service center would process your application faster. You just never know. When we filed our application, CSC was moving really fast and VSC was crawling. It seems to have changed recently, we got approved after 206 days, not fast by any means but not nearly as long as others.

Good luck with the Service Center that you decide on.

Flip a coin. It doesn't really matter. It will take a number of months, you know that, you've been told that.

Focus on preparing for their arrival and life afterwards.. That is MORE important.

As of Dec 7, 2009, now Zero miles apart (literally)!

Which one is faster flip-flops all the time. The service centers do, in fact, put entire classes of petitions on "hold" and then at some point have a "push" to catch up. The centers have gone through several of these cycles since I have been a VJ member. Trying to guess what will pop out the other end if you file it now makes no sense.

Besides, under the new system you send ALL I-129fs to one address and they get routed as needed, supposedly

Not an important issue anyway, a few weeks one way or another makes no difference in the long run. Non-issue

Make sure the mailing address is one that you can reliably get your mail at throughout the process, that's really the only important thing.

Prepare it properly, file it and forget it. Move on to preparing for what you just did

It was similar situation with our petition in 2011. When we filed K-1 and got our NOA1, we were happy that it ended in CSC because Cali was processing K-1 much faster that time. But in less than 2 months since filing, CSC almost fell asleep while VSC started to work super fast. We waited for our NOA2 for 6 months, and many people who were processed by VSC and sent petition at the same time with us, already scheduled their interview while we still didn't know what's going on with our case or just got NOA2, even if 6 months earlier it seemd like they would have to wait for their NOA2 when I already would plan booking tickets. You never know when one or another SC will slow down or speed up, so really it doesn't matter where to send petition, it's a lottery.

CSC seemed to be delayed 2 months last i checked (a month ago).

their current status for 129f processing, as of Dec 31, seems to show that they are currently working on JULY filers.

if the current timeline estimates on this website are reasonably accurate, then i'd say they're moving "on time".

anyway, nothing is certain.

I live in florida and my case was sent to csc......

All of them are sent to one place now and distributed from there to whatever Service Center can handle it faster...supposedly.

Looking at the data, CSC is most definitely not on time.

But you're right, nothing is certain, and it could pick up at any time.

It's probably going to be a bit like being in a supermarket queue - whichever one you choose the other one is going to seem to go faster.

It's whether you spend the time waiting fuming about the speed of the other queue or use it to do something more interesting. I always bring a book when I think I'm going to be stuck in a queue
